About Joey Manieri

Following global careers with a Fortune 50 company, John and Ning retired in Bay St Louis and love every minute of it.

Why Joey Manieri chose Mississippi

Bay St. Louis is called 'A Place Apart' for good reason. This small beach town has uniquely retained the gentility and ambience of its roots as the traditional summer cottage community for New Orleans families. There is plenty to keep you entertained for days or weeks -- great local retail shopping, restaurants, and bars; miles of quiet sand beaches and biking trails; casinos and community theater; near shore and marsh fishing as well as deep sea charters; golfing, boating, sailing. If you have a yacht club membership you likely have reciprocity with our beautiful Bay Waveland Yacht Club. Start your day at the Mockingbird or the Buttercup, and begin your Bay adventures. When you're ready for a day trip, New Orleans, Gulfport, and Biloxi are a short drive away.

Fooled by the picture

  • 1 of 5

Garconniere looked like a quaint cottage from the picture. The cottage is furnished with uncomfortable furniture. The chairs in the family room were fine, but nowhere else in the house. The bed was lumpy and the bedding was threadbare. The front screened porch, which we looked forward to hanging out in was filthy and the chairs were broken. We had a rain the first evening we we're there and after we'd gone to bed, we got up to turn the lights back on and the curtains and floor were covered in large roaches. When we reported it to the manager, Joe Manieri, he told us that it was normal for that to happen in the "south". After many uncomfortable conversations, he moved us to a different house that he managed, which was very nice, but we couldn't stay there as long as we had planned because the second house was booked. We love the Bay and will go back, but will definitely stay away from Garconniere and Joe Manieri.

Owner's Response: Wow! There were two complaints from this tenant after the first knight. One was that he sow some roaches and the other was there was some dust bunnies under the master bedroom. I told him the property was under contract for bug treatment and I could have it treated again. Also, I offered to have the house re-cleaned. I did tell him that bug treatment was common practice and that cockroaches are a problem in the south. When this did not satisfy his desires, I offered another property until we could treat and clean and the next booking. After his transfer to another location, I inspected the property. I did not see any roaches, but had it treated even though it was not long ago the property had been treated. I did notice that under the master bed, there were some dust bunnies. I notified my cleaners and informed this was unacceptable and they re-cleaned the property. When the booking for the other property was due, I told the tenant what had been done and asked him to move back. He chose to go home and I refunded part of his booking fees. Also, there were additional cost involved which were not charged to his account. I do take pride in my services and do a good job as you can see from any of my many other reviews on this property as well as others.

Great house and the town had so many enclaves to explore but still close to Biloxi and New Orleans

  • 5 of 5

Central location, and the property manager knew all the great restaurants and bars.

Nice sunroom with WiFi, kitchen, master bedroom, and wonderful shower.

Cannot go wrong with this house.

Owner might want to add some curtains over the kitchen sink.

What a gem!

  • 4 of 5

My girlfriends and I had a fabulous time at the Garçonière. The beautifully well appointed cottage has everything! As an Interior Designer I couldn't be more pleased with the space and its cleanliness! This little gem has everything! And the pictures don't make it just. It is much nicer in person. The one thing that kept me from giving it five stars is the sliding bathroom door- it isn't big enough for the opening and it gets off the track very easily. But I believe that is an easy fix. I truly hope it gets addressed because I can't wait for an opportunity to go back.
