Enjoy the rural surroundings of bush and mountain views in this private cosy cabin. Thoughtfully constructed with the environment in mind.
Wake up to birdsong ,immerse you self in nature and unwind, relax with books, boardgames and a dark night sky.
Enjoy a weekend escape, celebrate an anniversary or simply take a well-earned break.
Just bring your own food and drink (we supply tea, coffee and milk), you will find all crockery and kitchen utensils provided.
If you feel like eating out there are some fantastic cafes and restaurants in the nearby Oakura Village. Beaches and Surf Highway 45 are 10 minutes away, and 20 minutes to New Plymouth CBD .Green School -2km Pukeiti - a world renowned rhododendron garden is a 15 minute drive away.
Close to Mt. Taranaki, major tramping routes and the Pouakai Circuit.

Beautiful, peaceful and extremely relaxing

It was an incredible stay. Really beautiful surroundings, and an incredible cabin. Very well furnished with everything we needed. It was really cozy and we could just relax and recharge. The hosts really responded super quickly to our questions and were awesome to deal with. Will definitely book it again.

Great Cabin in Relaxing and Lovely Location

A lovely stay in this beautiful little cabin. It is comfortable and well set up for a relaxing experience in this stunning and peaceful location - perfectly orientated to capture views of the mountain (when it reveals itself) in one direction and the distant ocean in the other. Richard and Hilary were thoughtful hosts and it is well-located to visit some of the wonderful Taranaki gardens, the nearby beaches and to reach New Plymouth.

Tranquil and private spot

We liked the rural location, close to Pukeiti gardens but only 20 mins from New Plymouth too. Well equipped and clean cabin. Important that visitors grasp it’s essentially a tiny home! Richard our host was very helpful with instructions and dropped by during our stay to ask if we needed anything. Folding chairs would be a neat addition.

Little cabin on the prairie

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location, surrounded by trees, bird song and beautiful views of Mt Taranaki. The cabin was well appointed, very clean and super cozy, a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The only thing that would make it even more special would be a small flame effect heater. We’ll definitely be staying here again in future.

A little gem!

A beautiful spot and a beautiful stay - thank you so much. There were gorgeous little touches everywhere like fresh flowers and home made goodies. I loved the timber warmth, comfy bed and view of the maunga / mountain. Morning birds were a delight - very peaceful ambience. Will definitely come stay again :)

Simple but comfortable

A simple building but had everything. The location was so peaceful. I mean really peaceful. Was warm and dry. Be aware that you need to bring a hairdryer.

Clean, quiet, lovely!

Stunning view of Taranaki! Very clean and quaint, so welcoming. Our schedule didn't allow an extra day here but we so badly wish it had because it was a wonderful place to relax and just be. Location was great for us, just far enough away from everything and yet a nice easy drive over to the mountain for hiking. We absolutely recommend and if we're in the area again we will definitely be staying again! Thanks, Richard!

A little spot of your dreams!

We couldn't have imagined a more perfect spot to bring in the new year. Rainy weather meant we spent more time than we had planned in the cabin but we really fell in love with it - we'll definitely be back. Thank you so much to Richard and Hillary for sharing your gem and all the beautiful manaaki.

Perfect gem in nature

Fantastic little Bach surrounded by native bush with views of Mt Taranaki. Clean and cosy. The only negative was the place advertised having a stove, which implies oven, however it's a plug in device with two hotplates so I would suggest the host clarifies what they mean by stove. Suggestion, an electric fry pan would be good and or a small gas BBQ outside on deck. Otherwise it was a perfect getaway and highly recommended, plus great price. Will definitely stay again :)

Taranaki visit

What a gem Fuchsia is. Our daughter found this one amidst a plethora of other places to stay in the area. As parents we have obviously imparted a great sense of taste! This place has everything from spectacular scenery to the waft of haylage drifting through the windows. As for Fuschia, what more could you ask for? Well constructed and thoughtfully laid out,hot water on tap and a comfortable bed to lie in and listen to the birds. The only thing missing perhaps a banjo to play on the veranda come the evening …….! Many thanks Richard & Hilary.
