*As a note, this was our first time in Japan as Americans. We are unaware of the ‘norm’ for Japanese hotels, so some things noted might not be unusual for those native to Japan*The check in process was a bit weird. You have to pick up the keys from an entirely different building and either walk about 10 minutes or catch a quick train. The actual building itself was very quiet and easy to get into. It is also a 3 minute walk to the nearest train station, the Ikegami (IK) line that connects to the larger stations/lines making it fairly easy (30-60mins) to get into the larger cities. The neighborhood was quiet, with a 7/11 next door, a Lawson’s, and an Aeon market down the block. The room was fairly spacious with a futon and desk as well as a stocked kitchenette. There were cleaning products and a few toiletries available too. A washing machine and vacuum cleaner were in the room and a clothesline on the balcony was very convenient. With all that being said, it’s also worth mentioning that there was mold in the bathroom and in the windowsills and a thick layer of dust in the corners and windows. I ended up having to clean the room a bit at the beginning of our stay to make sure things were actually sanitized before we used them. The room was very humid and there was a dehumidifier, but it ran 24/7 during our stay and it didn’t collect a single drop (I checked multiple times). Also the owner didn’t respond to our messages at all about garbage disposal so we had to pay extra.
