Just 10 miles south of downtown Hayward, you'll find this warm and welcoming "cabin". But we use the term loosely--you definitely won't be roughing it. Large, luxurious beds, stone fireplaces, wonderful gathering spaces, and a fabulous kitchen await you. This is our refuge, so we've made sure it's set up for weekends with friends as well as gatherings with family. Regardless of the season, there are tons of things to keep you busy in the surrounding area, but you may never want to leave the property!
If part of your goal is to spend time watching TV, you'll need to find another spot. We have a big screen, but it only works for movies and Netflix. We've tried to be intentional about making time at the cabin less connected than everyday life.
Three of the bedrooms have King beds and you'll find a Queen in the fourth. In addition, there are two Full beds in the loft. Each bedroom has a large closet, room-darkening shades on the windows, and a fabulous ceiling fan. (Please note: A couple of the King beds are quite tall and may not be comfortable or accessible for those with mobility issues.)
In each of the 3 full bathrooms, there is a tub/shower combination stocked with soap and shampoo, plenty of towels, and a hair dryer. The fourth bathroom is a half bath on the main floor.
We love to cook, so you'll find the drawers full of utensils, the cupboards full of dishes and spices (and some basic ingredients) and a nice assortment of pots and pans and small appliances. If cooking isn't your thing, take-out in front of the fire works great, too.
No matter what your plans are, you'll appreciate the full-sized washer and dryer in the back hallway. Because life invariably gets messy when you are having fun.
In the walk-out lower level, you'll find a wet bar, ping-pong table, and an array of board games. We have great wifi and a screen for Netflix and DVDs--but absolutely no cable or dish network, so NO TV. You ARE at the cabin, after all.
While the cabin is comfortable, it is not particularly handicap accessible. We have stairs inside the cabin (bedrooms on three separate floors) and also a flight of outdoor stairs from the cabin down to the lake. Bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped, but do not have grab bars. The front entry has broad, shallow steps--very sturdy and welcoming--but no ramp.
We want you to have an amazing time at the cabin, but Carson the Moose insists on a few things:
--No loud parties. We love, love, love our neighbors and we want you to love them, too. A good rule of thumb is to quiet down by 10 pm.
--Absolutely no smoking in the cabin or on the screen porch. In fact, Carson would love it if you didn't smoke anywhere on the property.
--And, Carson insists that we say no to any and all pet visitors. We have some pretty serious allergies in our family.
--Our insurance requires that we only enter into rental agreements with adults 25+. Of course, family members of all ages are welcome!
Let us know if you have a boat you'd like to bring along. The cabin comes equipped with a canoe, a funny old rowboat, and two kayaks, but the dock can accommodate most sizes of watercraft and you're welcome to moor there. NOTE: Our beautiful lake is great for motoring around, but we are only allowed to use "noisy" toys from 10 am to 6 pm. A quiet evening ride in your pontoon is perfectly fine, however...
