Perfect place for our mini-moon!
Remote, quiet location in the redwoods in a canyon off highway 1 south of Carmel, this property was perfect for our weekend getaway with personal touches like an in-person welcome and farm fresh eggs as well as access to Carmel and Big Sur.
Charming cabin in the forest
The Little House was a unique getaway in the woods. We appreciated the breakfast goodies that were left by Maureen and Gerry! Great place to unplug and relax with the soothing babble of the nearby creek. The drive to Big Sur is about 30 minutes, and the drive to Carmel attractions is about the same. Highly recommend!
Welcome home to cozy and relaxing
This cottage is surrounded by redwoods and a creek to lull you to sleep at night. It was so quiet that we thought someone was knocking on the door when it was just a tiny pinecone dropping to the roof. Gerry was a wonderful host and Maureen responsively helped all our plans come together. Thank you!
Magical stay in the woods
Fantastic property in a unique and beautiful setting. We had an incredible, relaxing time at the property made all the easier by the hosts’ clear instructions and swift responses to our questions. Location is great for exploring Carmel and the Bay Area or the Big Sur coastline. By some distance the best property we stayed in on our California holiday!
Wonderful get-away for those seeking privacy, serenity and nature!
Maureen and Gerry are the perfect hosts who not only had the little cabin completely ready for us, complete with fixings for a fresh healthy breakfast the first day, but even checked up on us when we didn't return one night and they were worried. (my husband had to go to the Monterey Hospital ER which was a good experience, albeit not one we wanted to have, nor recommended for your little cabin-in-the-woods vacation). This beautiful cabin is deep in the redwood forest and is very private, quiet and peaceful. Cute and cozy for those looking for a digital break (but the wi-fi worked ok). Well appointed kitchen and bathroom, terrific amenities and a very comfy bed. Our only issue was the long, very dark and narrow, mostly one lane road from Hwy 101 to the cabin. It is a nerve-wracking drive returning to the cabin after dinner in the dark. Some days we found it easier to pick up food and wine, stay in and watch old movies. But other days we ventured out and enjoyed the gorgeous Pacific coast from Nepentha in Big Sur to a wonderful dinner at Grasings that our hosts recommended for our last night in Carmel. We love Big Sur and enjoyed this little cabin-in-the-redwoods - a very romantic place to truly escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, get away from it all and enjoy amazing, beautiful nature all around with great next-door neighbors who are also wonderful, thoughtful hosts.
10 mi south of Rio Road, last stoplight in Carmel
