What an awesome get away!!Very relaxing & fun. The dock was a bit of an issue only bc i use a walker but we managed. When the bbq tanks were empty, we quickly refilled and reimbursement was immediate

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Would not recommend. Multiple issues, including safety concerns Vrbo should review.Cleanliness: BBQ was unusable on arrival — packed with a fully built animal nest (photos available). The host blamed an animal getting in between cleaning and check-in, which isn't realistic for a nest that size. We also found a previous guest's clothing left on the couch — the place clearly wasn't inspected between stays. Couldn't grill all weekend.Accuracy: "Sleeps 6" is misleading. The bunkie is essentially a storage shed with two beds added — boxes piled on top, no ventilation, suffocating. Main cottage beds are cheap and creak loudly with any movement. The advertised lakeside view is largely a neighbouring property in rough shape.Safety: The bunkie has no proper electrical — power runs from the main house via a long extension cord that guests plug heaters and fans into. That's a real fire hazard, not the "single outlet issue" the host described. Deck railings also have no proper barrier — a falling hazard for kids.Host response: We raised these issues and were told it was our fault for not flagging them in real time. No accommodation offered. The lake is nice. The property is not what's marketed. Vrbo should reverify for accuracy and safety.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re disappointed to hear your stay did not meet expectations.
Regarding the BBQ, no concerns were raised during the stay despite it continuing to be used throughout the weekend, so the statement that it was completely unusable is not accurate. Cottage properties are located in a natural environment and, unfortunately, wildlife activity can occasionally occur between guest stays despite regular cleaning and maintenance.
The electrical issue mentioned was brought to our attention during the stay and was resolved within minutes due to one outlet not working. At no point were we informed of any ongoing safety concern afterward.
The bunkie, sleeping arrangements, and overall property layout are shown in the listing photos and description, and many guests specifically enjoy the rustic cottage setting and lake access the property offers.
We always encourage guests to contact us in real time so concerns can be addressed immediately, and we remain committed to providing a positive experience for future guests.

Grew up in the suburbs of the GTA and now live in Toronto. Finally saved up to purchase my own cottage and share the space with future guests! Fell in love with cottage country and always dreamt of a lakeside retreat to escape the city! Excited to allow others to share my space and find serenity in this charming cottage :)
