Our cabin was built in 1970. Since that time it has had very few modifications. We have tried to stay within the spirit of that original design and remained true to the 1970s without being kitsch.
It is beautifully situated in a quiet spot overlooking some wonderful year-round views. It's a place to relax and unwind. Perfect for enjoying the wildlife, taking long naps on the hammock, or cozying up to the fire.
While the cabin feels secluded, it's only a few minutes from many quaint nearby historic downtowns. A short drive on scenic mountain roads takes you to a variety of shops, galleries, restaurants, national parks, and trailheads.
If you are a hiker you couldn't wish for a better location. We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural places in North Carolina. Pisgah National Forest is comprised of more than 500,000 acres of hardwood forest, mile-high mountain peaks, whitewater rivers, thundering waterfalls, and hundreds of miles of top hiking trails. It's no wonder, this area is considered one of the nation's best for outdoor recreation.
The Blue Ridge Mountains are laced with waterfalls, from the majestic Whitewater Falls, highest east of the Mississippi, to simple, small, burbling but beautiful falls found in branches and creeks, especially after a rain. The beauty of these natural wonders offers spiritual as well as physical refreshment and renewal. The chilly mountain waters at the foot of many falls collects in natural swimming holes. Wildlife drink from the crystal clear waters, anglers search out trout that lurk beneath the surface at the foot of many waterfalls.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited National Park in America. Covering more than half a million acres in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, the Park attracts nature lovers, hikers, campers, fishermen, photographers, and other travelers looking for beauty, refreshment, and renewal of spirit.
