Has potential, but needs some work
This property is in a convenient location and is large enough to house a couple. We appreciated the opportunity for an early check-in. Those are the positive comments we can make. A potential renter needs to know that this is located on a busy street with sirens and traffic noise all night.
We rented through VRBO but the rental was managed by Wonderful Italy, a company we don't know. They required full advance payment and we expressed concern because our payment never appeared on our VRBO account. Inquiries about this were ignored.
The apartment appears to be a recent remodel that lacked many of the details that we have experienced in other short term rentals. As an example, we expect complete written instructions in multiple languages for use of the appliances, trash removal, emergency contacts, etc. This is helpful to the renter and protects the appliances, etc., from misuse. The stacked washer and dryer are examples of the many issues in this apartment. Perhaps typical of appliances in Italy, they are very different from the machines in my country. Instructions would have been helpful. Located in a small alcove of the bathroom, as front loading machines, they should be facing outward. Instead they were turned sideways. The door on one appliance opened to the left; the door on the other appliance opened to the right. Typically owner/managers provide some detergent. The only detergent in the apartment was a powder but the machine requires a liquid concentrate. The dryer would only run for a few minutes and then stopped functioning. Research online (not what we want to be doing on vacation!) showed that the dryer has a large water pan that needs to be emptied periodically or the machine stops running. The online manual cautioned that when full, it is very heavy. We can testify to that fact. We should not have to do this sort of maintenance.
The apartment appears stark. The badly mismatched furnishings are neither attractive nor functional. As an example, the "dining table" is an older wood piece that was matched with four clear plastic chairs. The table is too tall for those chairs so that one feels like a four-year old sitting at the grownup table. It is equally uncomfortable if used as a desk. Etc etc.
This property has potential but needs some work.
