An expansive family home with oodles of space, offering airy rooms, contemporary décor, and a fabulous garden, this seven-bedroom house has it all. Nestled on a peaceful residential street between leafy Richmond and village-esque Barnes, you'll be a short stroll from Mortlake and Barnes stations, along with the various parks and commons for which this verdant pocket of South-West London is famed.
Boundless windows let the light flood into a roomy downstairs area, which we love even more for its effortless melding of modernist design and classic homeliness. Crisp white interiors, a handful of skylights, and doors onto the garden, make for a luminous and uncluttered kitchen, with ample space for a well-equipped island, eight-seater dining table, and even a couple of sofas where you relax by the open doors. There's also the bonus feature of a handy (and might we add, beautifully organised) walk-in larder. Large windows also open up the living room, making sure that its rich colour palette is still awash with natural light. We love how classic features, like the plush rug and log burner, are united with panoramic views and statement lighting - effortlessly combining cosiness and cool. If you can tear yourself away from the serene setting though, activity is very much encouraged here, with a sizeable gym, a large bike shed, and grassy garden, complete with trampoline and climbing frame. And if that sounds like a little too much activity, may we suggest the patio dining area for a welcome wine break and BBQ. Seven comfy bedrooms unite a sense of freshness with soft tones; standouts being the principal bedroom with its abundance of windows, and the top-floor bedrooms with their cool white interiors and architectural design. To summarise: there's plenty to enjoy here, and plenty of space to enjoy it in.
We love...
The top floor provides a handy open-plan living area, complete with a comfy seating snug and a little integrated kitchen - ideal for any extra guests hankering after their own space. The five bathrooms (yes that's right, five) deserve a little spotlighting, with each one showcasing clean lines and a design-led aesthetic. And last but definitely not least, is the long list of sought-after extras, which includes the garden shed and bike racks, a separate laundry room, spacious larder, and two dish washers. We're not exaggerating when we say this place really has it all.
Home Truths:
As well as Mortlake station, there's a bus on the doorstep that will whisk you into Richmond, or to Hammersmith, with its excellent transport links to the city and Heathrow Airport. A dog usually lives here so not suited to allergies. Pets are welcome on request. An extra mattress is available in the twin room. There's a walk-in larder (not pictured) that you're welcome to use for the odd home-cooked meal. Please just use it sparingly, as these are the family's personal supplies.
