Unwind in my fantastic studio apartment, with private entrance & terrace with stunning views over the lush café garden and across Kigali; catch the sunrise over the golf course and Nyamirambo Valley! The apartment features colourful bohemian touches with both Moroccan and Rwandan influence. Located above Rwanda’s only Spanish tapas restaurant/bar, near most Embassies, just 5mins from the bus station, and 10mins from Kigali’s centre, the famous Mille Collines Hotel, and the Convention Centre.
The space
Approached from a private staircase below, the main bedroom is the ideal place to sleep, read or meditate - a large, comfy wooden double bed is the centrepiece of the room, already equipped with a mosquito net, and there is a sizeable built-in wardrobe for your convenience. Washing and ironing can be done for you free of charge by the Housekeeper.
During the day, the room is bathed in natural light, and features a large wooden desk/workstation, from which you can look out across the city to the green hills in the distance - a quiet and inspirational place to work or be creative. The room has been subtly decorated with local crafts.
Leading off the bedroom is your clean and well-appointed bathroom, with a toilet, bidet, sink and shower with constant hot water, as well as a deep bath for extra relaxation.
The kitchenette (cleaned daily) is well-equipped for snacks and light meals, featuring a single-ring electric stove, a kettle and a full complement of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. Don’t feel like cooking? No problem - room service is available from the highly-acclaimed tapas restaurant below, or just walk downstairs and enjoy your food served in the unique restaurant garden (with full WiFi access).
Whatever the weather, you can walk out onto the covered terrace from the bedroom, where you can find outdoor seating and local potted plants, making this a really special place to people-watch the café’s customers in the garden below, or look out over the city at the distant green hills.
Guest access
You will be able to access all the private areas of the apartment, along with the shared garden.
Other things to note
This really is a fantastic place to stay; conveniently-located for most of Kigali’s attractions, but still private and cosy. Because we’re not on a main road, things can be peaceful, although the restaurant below can get busier in the evenings, giving the place some ‘life’. And this is Kigali - so like everywhere else, the internet is strong but drops out occasionally, and there’s the occasional short power cut! But from the moment of your friendly welcome to the moment you (reluctantly) have to leave, it’s the little touches here that will have you planning to come back soon.
The house is in a great location, very quiet but just 5 minutes away from the bus station with buses that go to town and all directions, the famous Umubano hotel, Embassies, restaurants and nice walks across the valley and golf course.
