Town: The picturesque village of Westleton, located between Southwold and Aldeburg and close to the Suffolk coast, has everything a Suffolk community could ask for, including a village green with a pond and ducks. The community is easy to access from the nearby train station in Darsham, which is two miles away. The village has two pubs, The White Horse Inn and The Westleton Crown, one of Suffolk's best traditional inns where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, celebrated their first wedding anniversary. It also has a store, a bookshop where you can also enjoy a tea or coffee while browsing, an old-fashioned garage, and other shops. Westleton has the iconic Barrel Rolling Fair every August, when competitors must use a pole to roll barrels down the Village Green and then roll the barrels back up the hill. Everyone is welcome to participate, and barrels are provided! About a mile distant are the neighbourhood Emmerdale Farm cafe and Butchery and a tea cafe. With Westleton Heath National Nature Reserve, Dunwich Forest, Dunwich shore, with its renowned fish and chip store located on the shore, and the RSPB Minsmere all nearby, the region is a refuge for nature enthusiasts. In the centre of Suffolk's Heritage Coast, on the River Fromus, 6 miles away, lies the town of Saxmundham, which is well-served by independent stores, supermarkets, a train station, art galleries, a weekly market, and a farmers' market.
