The space
Located in a DC Historic District, our classic Kingman Park row home was built in 1928. The rental is a freshly renovated English basement studio with a brightly painted open layout and ceramic tile floors throughout and is comfortable for two adults.
The bedroom space features a queen bed with a brand-new mattress, two nightstands, two lamps, a white noise machine, and room-darkening shades.
The living space has a 3-seat couch, comfortable leather chair, 40" TV with an Amazon Firestick and DVD player, some books, games and puzzles, and a dining table with two chairs that can also be used as a workstation. A small monitor is available for use.
The kitchenette has a sink, mini-fridge with a small freezer, microwave, hot plate with pots/pans, coffee maker, Magic Bullet, and electric kettle. Kitchen basics include plates, bowls, silverware, glasses, wine glasses, mugs, cooking utensils, bottle opener, can opener, knives, cutting board, and more. Basic cleaning supplies are provided.
The full bathroom contains a tiled shower and includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and fresh towels.
The space has two dedicated private entrances in the front and back, and has an off-street parking space in the rear of the home (upon request, if available). The back patio is available to guests as well, which includes an outdoor table and four (4) chairs. No parties or additional guests are allowed. No smoking of any kind (including e-cigarettes and marijuana) or drugs.
Guest access
Guests have two private entrances to the space. Owners' storage closet and utility closet are locked to rental guests. All other areas of the unit are fully accessible to guests.
Other things to note
Our lovely home is nearly 100 years old, so there are some quirks such as some squeaky floors and noise transfers between our home and our airbnb apartment. We provide a white noise machine and are mindful of our guests and ask the same in return.
Guests have raved about the shower water pressure, quiet street, and room-darkening shades (night shift workers/nurses LOVE this!).
There are internal stairs to the homeowner's portion of the house. The door is shut and locked from the homeowner's side to ensure guest privacy.
We have front/backdoor cameras as part of our home's security. There are no cameras internal to the rental space.
