We have vacationed in Waikiki more than 20 times in the past 30 yrs so we are quite experienced with the overall area.
The Banyon has always been a property that we have had interest in primarily because the pool/recreation area is in the sun most of the day and it's overall location in Waikiki is very central to the beach, shopping and restaurants.
The pool is heated and has a great kids pool area with a 3' depth for them to play in. Additionally, the children's play area with ladders and slides is well used and deserved so.
Generally, the property is older and shows it's age of more than 30yrs however, having said that, it remains well maintained.
Note! There is a major remodel proposed for the entire pool deck/recreation/tanning area so know that once that work is underway it could potentially negatively impact your vacation.
The suite we stayed in was of average state of repair. It could have been cleaner than it was. Everything worked but the age of the suite was evident.
It was overall an enjoyable stay.
One of the biggest pluses is that for the most part on site vehicle parking is included in the suite rental costs. Comparitively, daily Waikiki parking fees start at $35.00 so parking that is included is of significant value.
I absolutely recommend the Banyon and as long as the suite's cleanliness is improved, I would also recommend the suite we stayed in.
