Centennial House set on 6 acres of lush park like grounds, stroll around and discover hidden treasures among the beautiful mature trees, stunning private gardens and water features.
Prices are based on 2 guests sharing a room, if you are a single person requiring a room to yourself please book as 2 guests.
There are to be no parties or events unless by prior arrangement, Ideal for large Family Retreats & Family Vacations & this is our main focus. By booking on this website you agree to our Terms & Conditions.

Minimum stay is 2 nights, Peak times have longer minimum stay periods, Bank holidays 3 nights, Easter 4 nights, Christmas 7 nights, New years 4 nights up until 15th of January.

This 5 star luxury boutique lodge can cater for every occasion be it a Corporate Event , an Amazing Wedding, Family Retreat, Vacation or Romantic Weekend Getaway.

The lodge offers 5 spacious Deluxe Suites, Two 2 bedroom Deluxe Suites which combined can sleep a total of 21 guests, each suite has its own unique interior styling most with en-suite and private lounge areas. (20 guests sleep in luxury beds 3 guests sleep on single sofa beds)

The light and airy kitchen with connected lounges and outdoor conservatory offer a retreat for guests to relax and socialise.

Conveniently located opposite the Bruce McLaren Motorsports Park and Taupo Horse Racing Course, ample free parking available for trailers or boats and just down the road from the Taupo Golf Club and famed trout fishing waters of the Waitahanui River.

Excellent venue for a group gathering
We absolutely loved our stay at Centennial House and will be booking again. The rooms were great and the communal areas, both inside and out, were perfect for our reunion of 12 people. The host was gracious and helpful.

We were 16 family members of three generations celebrating grandmother's 80th birthday.
Brilliant for what we wanted - lovely accommodation and gathering spaces inside and out and very classy. Hosts were great. Facilities brilliant

Nice house but some issue with landlord
The good - the house was very comfortable, the beds were very nice, and it was a lovely stay for a big group of friends. The owners gave us a free freshly smoked fish which was very hospitable of them. However, some other behaviour of the landlords was quite offputting. Communication via email with the landlords before we arrived was perfectly fine. However when we arrived we discovered that the landlords would be staying on the property while we were there - in an outbuilding only a few metres from the front of the house/living room/one of the bedrooms. This wasn’t communicated to us before we arrived – I thought we would have private use of the property without worrying about disturbing neighbours. They also weren’t very keen to give us the keys to the outside bedroom. On the Saturday night when we were all playing games in the living room (with the curtains open) I noticed the silhouette of someone in the landlords’ building pulling back the curtain and watching us (not just a glance but watching for a while)… felt a bit creepy! We closed the curtains. The next morning one of the owners came over to us while we were relaxing outside before we packed up to leave to accuse us of having too many people staying. We did not have too many people – in fact we paid for 16 people but only had 15 people staying as one was sick. Four of our friends who were staying down the road joined us for dinner and came back for breakfast – and I had asked for and been granted permission for this before we paid for the property. Definitely left a sour taste, it felt like we were in some acrimonious tenant/landlord situation. One of us did spill some wine on the carpet which we cleaned up as best we could, which I will admit would be annoying to the landlords. They charged us a reasonable fee for carpet cleaning out of our bond so no complaints there (and my apologies for the spillage). It was a nice stay but slightly dampened by the accusatory behaviour from the owners, and not communicating that they would also be staying on the property.

Fantastic getaway
One of the best weekends we have had in a long time, kids had a blast playing in the “jungle” as they called it. Adults loved the peaceful and private property to relax and unwind. We will be back again

In 2017 we decided to get out of the big smoke (Auckland) it was becoming very tiring travelling 3 hours a day to work, so we decided it was time for a life style change and found this property Centennial House in Taupo which suite our plans perfectly. It was formerly a Christian retreat and before that a couple John and Judy Mahar who laid the foundations of the garden back in the 1970's and who built the original property.The property was fully renovated in 2010 and an extra wing was built and the old Taupo Cricket Pavilion was bought, fully renovated and moved to the garden and is now the Pavilon Suite.

We purchased Centennial House Taupo in 2017 for the purpose of running a lodge and wedding/corporate event venue. It suited our needs very well having 10 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms and great entertaining areas, it has a very peaceful feel about the place.The gardens are absolutely stunning and this is something we enjoy developing.

Ideal for large extended family groups, 8 bathrooms, air-conditioning, sky TV & Netflix. 6 acres of landscaped gardens and water features for you to explore. Great indoor/outdoor dining facilities with a connected all weather conservatory which has 2 dinning tables & seating for 16, indoor dining for 12 with extendable main dining table and 4 stools at the breakfast bar in large fully equipped kitchen. Large 12m x 12m patio with outdoor furniture, large sun umbrella & sun loungers, gas BBQ. Fire pit in the forest for roasting marsh mallows with the kids(Please check fire ban restrictions in summer) Rural location with views of Mt. Tauhara. Close to Taupo town centre only 5min drive.
