Work began in 1781 and Rue de Jarente opened in 1783. The alley has changed little since then. Further on, at number 8, a 17th century house remodeled with more or less success in the 18th and 19th centuries, would have been according to legend, the home of the prior of La Couture Sainte-Catherine.
