Wishing we didn't have go!
Sorry for the long winded review. Its well worth it. I don't know where to start, so here we go. After staying a few night in Black Hawk (mini Vegas) we checked into this cabin for the balance of our trip. Upon arrival we were greeted with snow on the ground which we were hoping to see. The interior of the cabin is beautiful with a large living area and bedrooms plus the loft upstairs too. Our first night in the cabin we got 18"+ of snow and we were loving it. My nephew that came with us has never left Hawaii let alone seen snow ever before. The look on his face to see snow falling was absolutely priceless. The kitchen has full appliances, cooking utensils and dishes which made staying so much easier. We cooked many meals including grilling some steaks outside on the gas grill that is available to use. We made use of the fire pit outside to enjoy the warmth seeing as it was mostly between the 40's to 20's for most of our trip. Also the wood burning stove in the house added to the comfort during the colder parts of the night. They already had split firewood ready and a hatchet to make kindling as you needed. If you decide to venture out of the cabin area. You're not very far from Nederland which is a nice small town with several small, but tasty restaurants available. We went to Crosscut for some amazing wood fired pizza. We also went to B&F Market for some last minute groceries. It's the closest without having to drive 45+ minutes and prices to us were very reasonable considering we all live in Hawaii. The property is well maintained. Although we couldn't use some part due to all the snow on the ground. We made the best and chose to use the toboggans in the garage and taught my nephew how to make a trail and us them. After some trial and error he found out how to get things done and made a few very nice runs to use. I know there is a lot more we can say about this beautiful place, but we'll run out of room before that will happen. We can't say enough about this place and really look forward to coming back for sure. We'd like to try early fall when the leaves begin to change and the temperature starts to cool. Some of us have been to Colorado in the middle of summer at the drag strip at Bandimere Speedway and know how hot it can get there. We're going to miss going to Thunder Mountain for the races.
