Got there and from the minute we walked in the place it seemed very sketchy. It was outdated. Got to our room and the light didn’t work, patio door wouldn’t lock. Did not want to stay there. I did not feel safe and the place smelled like marijuana. I called the front desk and asked if I could still check out. They advised yes. We left and booked a different hotel. Later they advised they would not refund my money, which I wasn’t told when I left. I do not recommend this place, especially if you have children.

Great location right on the beach

We would return again but make sure the construction on the 26 storey tower right next to the facility was completed first. Our room was right against the construction and the hotel staff advised that was the only room they could offer despite our reservation three months ago. The construction equipment had alarm beepers that started at 7am and ran non-stop until 6pm, even Saturday and a bit on Sunday. the workers power-blew concrete dust and styrofoam out and it got all over our car. The complex itself was build in 1986 but shows pride of ownership and was in good condition. The indoor and outdoor hot tubs and pool were nice and the facility is right on the beach which is spectacular and we could walk for miles each way and there are lots of restaurants and attractions close by.

Disappointed

We stayed at this hotel last year and were very satisfied. This year when we booked, we thought we were getting a 10th floor unit. Instead we were put on the 3rd floor.The 2nd bedroom was noisier because of pipes from upstairs running nearby. Also the toilet flap in the guest bedroom leaked causing the toilet to run periodically. This was fixed promptly when we mentioned it. Not so the dishwasher which leaked on the floor. The living room couch/bed and chair were dirty and sagged. The couch/bed smelled faintly of dried urine. It was the 4th day before the cleaning lady realized that the second bedroom was in use and the bed needed to be made. The last day of our stay, she didn't make any of the beds or clean the unit. None of these things were enough to have us running for the exit but we will certainly book elsewhere the next time we are in MB.

The kitchen was a weird layout but satisfactory for the use we made of it. I had a car problem in that I parked in the sheltered parking area and water, dripping from the concrete roof ruined the finish of the car in a small area. I brought it to the attention of the staff who immediately tried to repair the damage and took steps to make sure that no other cars were damaged. Unfortunately the damage could not be repaired there and I had to drive home. The hotel admitted liability and I am in the process of getting quotes to send hotel for approval. Top marks to the staff for responding to my problem and for taking steps to protect other visitors.

Overall it was ok

We had a good stay overall..the place was outdated though. My complaints are the mattress was very old. You could feel the springs just by sitting on it so you know sleeping on it wasn’t that great. We didn’t have hot water between 7:00 and 8:00 pm on the second night and then hair was in the tub so I had to purchase cleaning products and clean the tub myself. I love staying at the Schooner and I still enjoyed my stay but it could use some updating.

This property provides good space so you can spread out. We had a 2 bedroom with a balcony that was oceanfront, so the view was great. Management needs to relax with all the rules, people are on vacation and do not want to be bothered. Also need to freshen up the property with a fresh coat of paint and remove the old carpet and mirrored wall in the lobby.

Anniversary 2 night trip with my wife. Room was nice and bed was comfortable. Hotel was quite with easy access to the beach. Short drive to area attractions and nice restaurants within walking distance.
