The YMCA is a great place to stay in, its pretty close to the subway and next to central park. The only thing I didn't like about it was the looks of the space commons, it kinda feel like you were in jail, but besides that its an amazing hostel. I'd definitely go back to it.
Great location close to subway, Central Park and Broadway. Gym and pool were fabulous. Reception staff were very helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are older, often things didn't work eg lamp or no chair in the room and the bathrooms were cramped.
room with bad beds, bathrooms in terrible condition, the showers didn't heat the water, I had to take a cold shower, the only thing worth it is the location

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Clean but sparse furnishings, but that's what I wanted. I didn't go to NYC to spend all my time in a hotel room. Easy check in, great cardio room, quiet, clean bathrooms. Close to Lincoln Center, Central Park, Columbus Circle.
I will stay here again.
Room is good but pillow is very uncomfortable. Three bathroom stalls but only one closes, three shower stalls but only one has decent pressure. One night I had to shower with no hot water. Front desk won’t call you a taxi and you have to pay $4 dollars per bag for them to keep it if you come early for check out
I have stayed there many times before but this time they insisted on a $10 a night cash surcharge when none was mentioned in the Hotel.com reservation. This is so wrong. I think is very deceitful. I am trying to see if it is against the law.
Very well located, it's a very strategic home base for someone that wants to be in the heart of NYC but also not in the middle of all the chaos. My only comment would be that I stayed for 6 days and no one attempted to do house cleaning in my room.
Great location- walkable to all attractions and close to subway - very basic but clean and quiet and felt safe abd secure - would highly recommend for New York on s budget
I stay here a lot. It’s the Y, not the Ritz, so my expectation is never high. But it’s fine, clean enough. Usually the check-in security people are great. This time, they lost my driver’s license for a bit and the guard mistakenly thought I didn’t belong there and hassled me until he realized he was wrong. It’s New York.
