Great venue for a little break

Room was very clean, well equipped and the use of the gym, pool, steam room and sauna were very pleasant additions. These were also well equipped. Great location too

Would recommend!

Very helpful and friendly staff, could check in when wanted which was really helpful. Only downside is two single beds were pushed together, but the duvet provided was too small so we both had to sleep in the middle. Would recommend!

Castle field Hotel August 2023

Staff on reception were friendly and very professional. Swimming pool was too cold to go in so gave our towels back. We stayed 2nights and the room was not cleaned or serviced on Day 2.No refills of tea, coffee or milk etc Quite poor for such a lovely hotel.

I had a wonderful stay at the Castlefield Hotel, even though it was only for one night. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Other hotel guests seemed to be cheerful as well. The breakfast was good, and the service lady was nice to allow me to have another cup of tea despite the fact that the breakfast hour was over (thanks a lot for being so kind!). As such, the facility is not "modernized", so I did not expect anything fancy, but the price was very reasonable (especially when compared with other nearby lodging facilities), I got great value for what I paid for. One thing I'd like to highlight was a sense of "community feel" that I had while staying at the Castlefield, which I don't usually find in a lot of other hotels, and I liked that a lot! I'll definitely stay here if I visit Manchester again.

Clean, friendly, well priced hotel with character.

We don't normally stay in Manchester as it's not far on the train, but we were visiting our daughter and the Christmas Markets. Chose the Castlefield as it was a very reasonable price and I would certainly recommend this hotel. Location is pretty good, 5 mins from Deansgate Station and about 10/15 mins to Market Street,/Arndale etc.. Staff were friendly and welcoming, there was a comfortable ( newly refurbed ?) bar area. The rooms were actually better than i expected, clean, nicely decorated ,and decent TV and Tea/Coffee making facilities. Nice powerful shower. Pillows could perhaps have been a bit more 'fluffy' (but maybe i was being a diva!) The breakfast was more than ample, the cooked breakfast probably better than the continental option in truth. Other things that impressed me were the fact it was a charity run hotel and they worked with young people excluded from mainstream education. The sports facilities looked good, and guests could use the swimming pool. Finally, it felt like a proper local hotel rather than a big chain (which i have stayed in), the Manchester themed photos round the building were good...(especially the one of City fans celebrating one of the Premier League wins at The Etihad!)

Nice hotel, just a bit too much painting going on!

The good: staff, really friendly and helpful, went above and beyond (guy from Washington especially, sorry didn’t catch his name!). A really nice pool area. The bad: In the room, the lighting was really poor, there were no ‘main’ lights just small wall lights which omitted barely any lumens! My daughter and I joked that we thought a man had designed the room as we couldn’t put on our make up 😂. The ‘view’ was over a flat roof, which is fine, but the flat roof had loads of loose scaffolding and gloves and other debris. It was however a clean room with a very comfy bed. The worst part of the stay for us was that the communal/bar area was being decorated. There was a strong smell of fresh paint which isn’t the end of the world. However I was disappointed when we were eating our breakfast that the painting continued, only a couple of meters from where we were sitting. The fumes were overpowering when trying to eat. However I brought it up with a member of staff and she offered for us to take our food up to our room and cancel off the bill for breakfast. It spoiled it a little but I think the hotel were under some pressure to get the place decorated and I understand that. It just felt a bit thoughtless to be painting so close to where people were eating. Overall it was a nice little place, in the city centre with reasonable rates. I’m sure if we visited again and there was no painting then it would be fine!

we stayed here for the laughterama comedy festival at castlefield bowl and it was perfect. The hotel literally overlooks the bowl and there are so many of Manchesters best places to see, restaurants, bars etc within 10-15 minutes including the science and history museum across from the hotel. The room we stayed in was huge and super clean. The beds were extremely comfortable.

Sweet but tired

Stayed here whilst visiting on business, really nice bar and communal area. Halls and rooms are very tired, might seem a harsh review as it is a charity run hotel but. It definitely needs significant investment in the rooms and hallways. They’re dated a bit battered and old. Our stay was ok, bar excellent breakfast good but wasn’t my best night sleep on the bed. you do get access to the gym and swimming pool which is really good. Bar is very well equipped open till about midnight or 1am. Happy to have stayed there but from the bumpy rough bed and tired room unfortunately it’s not one I’ll be able to come back to for a future visit

This was a very specific choice of hotel, due to its proximity for Castleford Bowl and a Gig there, and you can't get any closer, trust me, the hotel is practically back stage and the band Green room was in the hotel. Only a 5-6 min walk up one road to get to Deansgate. Yes it is in an area thats being brought back to life and probably £40 a night more than it warranted, but as i said, worth the extra if your attending a concert at the bowl, simply for convenience. You might even get to meet the band, i did.

Great hotel in brilliant location

The hotel is is a great spot - perfect if you want to explore the canal basins, restaurants and attractions of Manchester. The room was large and spacious and we had a canal view. The staff were friendly and accommodating - we were travelling with our dog, which was welcomed. The bathroom was spotless as was the linen. The only draw back was a lack of aircon - it can get very hot inside the hotel bedroom. All in all I can highly recommend.
