The place is quite charming. Right in downtown Ft. Davis, which is so small that street noise doesn't exist. It's less than 4 miles from Davis Mountains State Park, and about half an hour from Balmorhea State Park. The bathrooms have lots of high-quality towels, the kitchen was excellent, the beds comfortable. Everything was very clean! In our case, two couples came to hang out, to cook meals together, to hike and birdwatch together in this beautiful part of the country. This place fit the bill! I would never stay anywhere else in Ft. Davis. But the most important piece was the excellent service provided by the office staff. Audriana was so very easy to work with. She is kind, connected, readily available for questions, and went above and beyond to make our stay truly smooth and memorable. The only thing I suggest is that you book your visit directly through VRBO instead of through a third party. For example, if you simply search for housing in Ft. Davis and choose a listing, including this one, a third party handles your reservation. There is no reason for that - it is my understanding that the third party simply takes a piece of the money you spend, maybe even adding to the cost. I would much rather support owners rather than third party vendors.
