About this property

Strega · Mountain-View “Casa Strega” @ Rancho los Soñadores

Welcome to Casa Strega - a vibrant, two-story cottage filled with curated vintage, high-end touches, and luxury linens. We have everything you need to rejuvenate near the magic of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains while being less than 15 mins from The Plaza and less than 8 mins from Meow Wolf.

If the dates you need are not available, please click on our profile for our other rentals.

Please note: due to COVID-19, we are asking that all guests be vaccinated to help keep our community safe.

Downstairs in Casa Strega, you’ll find a cozy living room with a vintage fireplace, record player, and plenty of Dolly Parton & Etta James LPs.

Nestled behind is a kitchenette stocked with Kinto glassware, a four-burner gas stovetop, countertop toaster oven and fridge. This unit has everything you need to make breakfast, lunch and simple dinnersu when you’re not enjoying the food scene in Santa Fe.

Upstairs you'll find a bedroom nook with a Keetsa mattress, luxury linens, two types of pillows for all sorts of sleepers and Euro shams for reading in bed. The bathroom, also upstairs, is stocked with Innersense shampoos and conditioners, Bathing Culture soaps and a Dyson hairdryer.

Leave the blackout curtains to the balcony open and have the sunlight wake you up in the morning or enjoy your coffee while gandering at the amazing views of the New Mexico countryside.

Casa Strega also has:

- French press for your perfect morning cup of tea or coffee.
- High-Speed WiFi
- Charm in spades
- Is an LGBTQ+ Safe Space

Please be aware - because of the build of the unit, which makes it part cottage part loft space, the stairs are quite steep. Because of that, we don’t recommend this rental for very young children or anyone with any accessibility challenges.

You'll have access to the whole unit, plus outdoor space and views.

Guests let themselves in through a lock box, but there’s a manager on site.

Welcome to Rancho los Soñadores in the tradional village of Agua Fria! People have been living on in this gorgeous part of Santa Fe since 3,000 B.C., harnessing the magic of this very special place. Home to the Jicarilla Apache and the Pueblos, in 1995 it was officially designated a Traditional Historic Community.

We’ve put together a curated list of our favorite places to eat and be, but Santa Fe is a place that begs you to explore without a plan. Chat up someone at the Farmer’s Market and suddenly you’ve got a whole list of things to check out.

It’s best to have a rental car, and we have parking provided, but Uber and Lyft are available if you don’t drive. If you are coming in the winter, we recommend renting a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Casa Strega is a great blend of town and country life - you'll be fifteen minutes away from the center of downtown Santa Fe but be able to wake up in the morning to rolling hills and hiking trails directly behind the house. You’re fifteen minutes from the Santa Fe Opera, twenty minutes from Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Spa, forty-five mins from the ski slopes, an hour from Georgia O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu and three seconds from sunrise and sunset hikes to take in the incredible New Mexico sky.

Parking for the unit is located in the front of the property and the unit is accessible down a 150ft trail past the main house.
WELCOME TO CASA STREGA!

Casa Strega means the “witch house” in Italian. We named it after the feminine magic that emanates from the land here. And from the artwork to the Grace Jones records we’ve outfitted with, we hope you’ll feel the same energy too!

We’re excited for you to discover Santa Fe and explore and learn about this historically rich part of the world while you relax with us. Here’s everything you need to operate and navigate this rental.

Wifi
Network is Strega
Password is 6465124472

Heating & Cooling
Strega is equipped with mini-split A/C systems for cooling in the summer months. They also provide heat - they can be operated using the small white remotes. Please be sure to return remotes to their caddies.

Lock Box Code
You already have this if you’re inside, but in case you need it, it’s 9-8-0-8.
To lock and unlock, just press the code and you’ll hear the mechanism work.

Gate
The entry code is 1-2-3-4. To EXIT simply drive up to the gate and it will open automatically. Sometimes you have to get pretty close to the gate for the sensor to do its thing!

Rain + Windows
At this altitude, the weather is constantly moving and changing - sunny one minute and a thunderstorm the next, so please make sure you always close the windows when you leave. The entire cottage can be soaked in an instant.

Noise Curfew
To be respectful to our neighbors and others on the property, please no loud outside talking or windows open dance parties after 10PM.

Altitude Self-Care
If you’ve never been to Santa Fe, welcome to 7,199 feet above sea level. You might require a day to adjust, so make sure you drink lots of water and be kind to yourself if you are sensitive to big altitude changes. If you are still feeling wonky after a couple of days, you can buy canned oxygen at Big 5 Sporting Goods to help you over the hump.

LIVING ROOM

Fireplace
If you are here in the cooler months, you will want to use this - simply turn it on by twisting the dial in the lower right to the “on” position, and “off” by turning it back. Please do NOT put wood, paper, or any other materials into the blaze. Please turn off the fireplace before retiring for the night, and never leave fire unattended.

If the fire does not turn on, then the pilot light is out. Please message us on the Airbnb app or at 646.512.4472 and we will send you a video to show you how to turn it back on!

Record Player/Aux Audio
Enjoy the warm sound of our analog receiver, Pioneer speakers and record player! To listen to music, first turn on the receiver by pressing the POWER button.
To listen to a record, click on the PHONO option. Place a record on the turntable, being careful not to touch the surface of the record. Then, press the large flat button to play. The arm will move into place on its own.
To stop playing the record, press the large flat stop button on the right of the turntable. Please do not move the needle arm manually.

If you would like to listen to music off of your iphone or any device with an 1/8th inch output, connect it to the 1/8th dongle and adapter, click on the AUX button in the output options, and enjoy!

BATHROOM

Because Studio Cielito uses well water, in the desert, we ask that you please be mindful of water use while you’re here.

The shower products are by Amika, a female-owned beauty team out of Brooklyn, and Lulu Organics hair powder (like a dry shampoo).

In the wardrobe, you’ll find a Dyson hair dryer, a first aid kit w/bandages, advil, alcohol swabs, antibacterial ointment, organic tampons and pads.

For body wash you’ll find the incredible smelling Detox Market Impossible Soap. Made with fruit oils and completely natural, non-drying and perfectly clean, we hope you enjoy your shower and bath time with this phenomenal soap.

Black washcloths are for you to go to town on your face makeup with. Lighter grey washcloths are for non-makeup related washings.

As for our sensitive pipes, we are on our own septic tank, so please only flush toilet paper down the toilet. Any other products, including wet wipes that claim to be “toilet friendly” are big-time liars, and tampons are especially effective at jamming up the system. Thank you for helping us keep the pipes in tip-top clear working order.

KITCHEN

We love to cook and get super bummed out when we travel somewhere and the knives are dull hunks of metal that smash your delicate tomatoes, so we’ve filled this kitchen with sharp, working knives, (be careful) and other fantastic things should you wish to hole up in Cielito and cook something up.

Cooktop
This stove is not like any other stove we’ve ever used. In order to light, push down, turn, wait until the flame has been lit for a few seconds before you let it go. Make sure when you’re done it’s set to “Off” position.

Water
This house is situated above an aquifer which has incredible, refreshing and delicious mineral water. We drink the water straight from the tap. To get hot water, pull the handle forward. The water is on demand and sometimes in the winter it takes a minute to get hot.

Coffee
We’ve partnered with Juan Certain of The Brew ABQ for all our coffee, who is a third generation Colombian coffee grower living in Albuquerque. His passion for coffee is boundless and his blends reflect that. You are enjoying a special blend made just for La Dea. A perfect medium / dark roast, you’ll find a French press waiting for you to make the perfect cup of coffee. Recommended brewing ratio is one wooden scoop per 4oz, but you do you.

Tea
To steep tea, please use our french press which works for both coffee and tea!
Our teas are all supplied by Artful Tea, a local, female-owned tea supplier in Santa Fe. There’s organic English Breakfast, which blends Ceylon, ASsam and Tanzania black teas and is produced in accordance with the Ethical Tea Partnership.

For best results, use 1 level teaspoon per 6 oz of water, steep for 3 - 4 minutes. Do not over steep, but your serving can handle a second or third infusion.

The caffeine-free option is Egyptian Chamomile, which is a great sleep aid and has a relaxing quality if you like to start your mornings a little more calmly. To prepare, use 1 heaping teaspoon for every 6 oz of water and steep for 5 minutes.

For reference our Kinto mugs hold about 11 fluid ounces.

Garbage / Recycling
Recycling and garbage are all clearly marked and we appreciate any efforts to make our trash footprint as light as possible. The recycling bin is under the stove, the garbage bin is under the eating nook. Glass is not combined with regular recyclables, please see next section for instructions on how to dispose.

Stay here if you come to Santa Fe :)
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at rancho los sonadores!! The place was beautiful, and we really appreciated all the extra little touches they provided - including tons of recommendations for places to eat and things to do! The fire place and record player were an added bonus too!!

What a lovely, comfortable home. Everything was great from beginning to end: communication with the host, decor, amenities, stunning environs, and spot-on tips for food and things to do.

Super sweet place in great area - highly recommended.
Cute, colorful and cosmic, I loved this rad little place. Great aesthetic with thoughtful, modern, earthy/artistic design throughout. I loved the femme-centric theme. Close to tourist destinations but seemed "far out" in the best way. Great views from the 2 decks and nice people who seem to really care about creating an experience over offering just a place to sleep - what more could you asK?

Great location
Nice, out of the way location, yet still close to everything. Comfortable space for a couple looking to get away and experience a great destination. While perfect for us, but may be an issue for someone who has any difficulty with stairs. Thank you again for opening your property to us!
