About this property

The River House: stone section built in 1790, borders the scenic Juniata River!

The River House is a large farmhouse, that borders the scenic Juniata River, with a stone section built in the 1790s. Enjoy canoeing, fishing, swimming, campfires, and more! Watch and listen to the trains across the river as they go by. There is plenty of space to relax, but also so many things to do for those looking for entertainment. The home comes with a large 1 acre plus yard for recreation and games. The back porch is equipped with a grill to compliment the firepit. The house is located one mile from downtown Mifflintown but is relatively private and tucked away. If you are looking to host an event or book a wedding, check out the-river-house.com !

Wedding weekend
We rented this to stay for the weekend. My daughter was married at the winery. This place was amazing. Anything we could have wanted, lots of space indoor and out, 3 refrigerators, folding tables and chairs, Cornhole and lots more. It was a great place for family friends and fellowship. Owner was super responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommend if you are looking for quality time with family and friends

Farmhouse retreat
Our family had a lovely stay at the farmhouse! It is close enough to necessities (groceries, gas, dollar store, liquor store, fast food), but tucked away in nature. Some bees and newly spread manure kept us from spending extended periods outside at first, and even though it rained there was plenty of covered outdoor and indoor activities and spaces to congregate. The train goes by frequently but we got used to is. Overall lovely home and we absolutely will be back with friends!

Lovely old farmhouse with plenty of room.
A group of men for our church gathered from Wednesday to Sunday to watch the NCAA National Wrestling Championships. Everything was spotless. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of dishes, chairs, tables, etc. I was concerned that the wifi would not be fast enough for our viewing; but it was more than adequate. The owner stopped part way through our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. It is a peaceful setting. I would consider staying there again.

Great experience!
We stayed with friends and our kids. Great place! Cool old farm house right on the river. The grocery store is right near by and there was plenty to do for the kids inside the house. Thanks for the great stay!
