Off-grid tiny home farm stay with incredible mountain views!
We have totally gutted, (disinfected), and remodeled this Amish chicken coop. You heard that correct. It was originally built and used to house hundreds of chickens and turkeys. A glamping experience unlike any other!
Experience a WORKING (formerly Amish) farm in the heart of rural southwest Montana. Off-grid (solar) yet cozy, we are the perfect fit for those looking to escape the stress of the city for a simple farm experience. Your experience will be rustic, grounded, and unique. Local attractions include Hot Springs, Hiking, Rafting, Biking, Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowmobiles, Hunting, Fly Fishing, ATVs, Caverns, National Parks, Ringing Rocks, and Mining Towns. We are also conveniently located near Copper K Barn and historic Twin Bridges Round Barn. We are 17 minutes S of I-90.
We are an active farm, so do not expect the "Ritz" or any fancy gardens. We do have free-range poultry, so do expect some animal droppings on the property. Experience the stars as you've never seen them before. Our views are unbeatable and your experience with us will be memorable. Bring your binoculars - you never know when you might get a glimpse of the majestic Montana wildlife! Meet the farm animals or watch for bald eagles and deer and even possibly meet our resident moose family. We are surrounded by National Forest and untamed rivers that make us the perfect location for your next adventure.
The cabin is off-grid (solar), so expect the electricity to have some limitations. Open windows for cool cross breeze and run the fan. We maintain redundant High-Speed Internet with download speeds averaging 100 Mbps so you can stay connected. Renova Hot Springs is just a mere 6 miles away if you want to enjoy a rustic experience beside the Jefferson river.
We live in the country so be aware that most restaurants and urban attractions will be 20-45 minutes away. The road getting to the property is partial pavement and partial gravel. Our gravel driveway is 1/2 mile long. We enjoy the stars so we do not have security lights in the parking areas. There is parking available in between the cabin and corral for 1 vehicle.
You may experience animal and/or equipment noise during your stay. You may experience our family doing chores/farm projects that sometimes happen late at night or early in the morning. We do our best to respect your privacy and rest, but sometimes noise, equipment, and lights are unavoidable.
Also, because the cabin is totally off-grid we have a special tank to heat water. Be prepared to turn on a water heater timer 15 minutes before you want hot H2o. Allow 15 minutes between showers to give the tank time to re-heat. Hot water will last 5-10 minutes depending on how hot you like your shower. Power is limited so only run one appliance at a time.
ATTENTION SERVICE ANIMAL OWNERS: Although the service animal industry holds a special place in our hearts and we have even specifically bred service dogs for Puppies for Patriots in the past, we want you to know that our farm is not a safe retreat for your valuable animal. We have working livestock guardian dogs who's job it is to deter any strange animals from being here for the protection of our menagerie of farm animals. Our guardians are very friendly towards people but your animal would be viewed as a hostile intruder. For the safety of your animal, please don't book our farm stay if they must be with you. We are truly sorry for this inconvenience but we want the very best for your animal as well as ours. Thank you for understanding.

Great little cabin. Had the best star gazing. Weather was hot and cabin became uncomfortable. Some exterior shades and a ceiling fan would help. Would stay again if in the area.

Thank you for staying with us! All windows have pull down shades and there is a portable swamp cooler unit in the cabin with instructions. Can't help the mid August heat, but we'll look into more cooling options! :)
This was the perfect peaceful weekend! The Chicken Coop faces east for gorgeous sunrises and I enjoyed my coffee outside with the hens wandering by every day. Equipped with a mini kitchen, I was able to have simple meals with the food I brought and didn’t need to go out. I walked around the farm a bit each day and just enjoyed the slower pace. Excellent communication with hosts, though so much was provided I didn’t need to request anything. Can’t recommend this setting, host, and space highly enough!!
