This is a magical house. It is surrounded by woods and a pond. The only sounds you hear are the birds and other animals, the wind in the trees. It is a one minute walk to Dering Harbor where the sunsets are neon pink.
Upstairs, a glass room that feels like a tree house. It can be used as an additional bedroom using the day bed in the room.
This is a fully equipped family home perfect for people who want to truly unwind and feel nature. The house is over one hundred years old so full of character.
The back of the house faces a saltwater pond/marsh that constantly changes with the tides and the moon.
A large deck out back is furnished with comfortable seating and lounge chairs are around the pool.

Always great to artsy at Kim's house

We've stayed here many times now and it's always a pure pleasure. The house is so comfortable, the privacy is unmatched, and the proximity to beaches and town is great. I look forward to our stay all year long.

Great family vacation!

The location, the serene pond view, the pool, and the fully modern kitchen are the highlights of this house. The owner was very responsive, answering all of our questions quickly and sympathetically. The grownups enjoyed swimming and sitting on the deck, watching the six-year-old splash in the pool. The appliances all worked very well. We had problems balancing the air conditioning during a heat wave, and the spiral staircase (accurately shown in the pix) meant we had to juggle sleeping arrangements. ( The two master bedroom and other queen bedroom are both on the main floor; the twin-bed bedroom and extra bedroom with futon are on the floor above, up the spiral stairs.). Other than that, we loved the house—beautiful decor, privacy, lots of extra touches.

Great airy house with a fantastic location

I rented this house for my wife's family visiting from Germany for our wedding on Shelter Island, and it was perfect for our needs. The location is wonderful, with a short walk down to the water, and a nice view across the salt marsh from the back deck. I rated "listing accuracy" with only three stars because, in fact, the house is quite a bit larger than it appears in the listing, I thought. So, that's not really a bad thing, but we were surprised by extra space.
