Our family cottage is now available for others to enjoy as well. Built in 1920, the cottage is quaint but with all the conveniences you would need. 3 bedrooms, full bath with shower over tub, fully equipped kitchen, dining room, large living room area, sun porch for morning coffee or evening cocktails, and an awesome outside area with patio, large deck, built-in fire pit, and gas grill for your enjoyment. New mattresses on all beds. Relax, enjoy family time and nature without the hustle and bustle of other commercial recreational areas. Washer and dryer on site with ample private parking for up to 4 vehicles.

Situated between Stony Lake and Lake Michigan public beach (the oval), it is walking distance to both. Beach towels and chairs provided. Boat dock available on Stony Lake (with prior arrangements) for your fishing boat, ski boat, or pontoon! Walk to Stony Lake Store, Stony Lake Inn restaurant and bar, park with playground and picnic area. Float or tube down the Stony Creek Channel from Stony Lake to Lake Michigan. Lots of activities within less than 10 miles including Silver Lake sand dunes and dune buggy rides, Lewis Farms market and petting zoo, Benona Shores Golf Course (2 mi), 3 other golf courses within 15 minutes, local wineries, Rainbow Ranch horseback riding, Double JJ Ranch with indoor water park, dining, and rodeos.

If you need more room, there is also a large studio loft apartment for rent above the garage on property with kitchenette, full bath with shower, and large living room area that sleeps up to five. Rent one or both!

My husband and I had such a wonderful time at Windswept cottage! It truly has everything you could need and we felt like we were staying in a home away from home. You can tell there’s a lot of family history there which added to the cozy feel. All the decorations were charming, the beds were so comfortable and the outdoor space is perfect for relaxing. We were worried when we found out the loft was also rented at the same time, but the layout of the yard/deck provides plenty of room for everyone. If you choose to stay here, you must try tubing down Stony Creek. It’s absolutely beautiful and was a highlight of our trip, along with dinner at Stony Lake Inn restaurant. We feel like we discovered such a hidden gem of a town and can’t wait to go back!

Classic Cottage, Great Beaches Nearby

A true cottage-feeling place complete with screened-in porch, and lotsa of outdoor space with a patio and deck. Very quiet spot - but less than a half mile walk to a great beach, with other great Lake Michigan beaches within 20 minutes. We never turned on the AC - it was "great sleeping weather" in the true Up North tradition!

More Than Just a Cottage

Walking distance to Stony Lake and Lake Michigan (mostly shaded). Indoor space is adequate and pleasant, especially the porch. Plenty of outdoor space with a yard for playing games, two campfire areas, and three tables for eating. We've stayed three times and look forward to a fourth visit. There is also a spacious studio apartment above the garage that can be rented.

Family Christmas

We loved Windswept Cottage! It’s close enough to Lake Michigan and Stony Lake to walk..the store down the hill has great ice cream..every thing was clean in the cottage and well equipped for cooking (loved all the pans!). We love to get all our children together for Christmas, but with them all getting older and families of their own it seemed impossible. So, we tried doing it in the Summer…still couldn’t…one son and his partner live in San Francisco and another son just had a baby one month ago. Everyone agreed that this was a lot of fun and were able to make many memories ❤️ So, we’ll be looking to do the same next year! Thanks so much for having such a wonderful place to stay,,! We enjoyed staying at Windswept cottage. It was in a great location between Stony Lake and Lake MI. We had 8 people in the house, so at times one bathroom was not quite enough. Overall though it was a great place!

Great quiet place to stay!

We loved staying at Patty’s place. They have a great location can walk to stony lake or Lake Michigan. A super cute general store 5 minute walk that has about everything and lots of gluten free food, ice cream and pizza! plenty of beds which is nice and love the sunroom! The couch is comfy also!! We will definitely go back! Thanks for being great hosts! Good vacation memories! 15 mins to Silver Lake but nice to go back to a quiet area!

We had a great time at the cottage! It is exactly as listed and was very homey. Beds could be better but the atmosphere was nice. It’s a place we would stay again and our host Patty was both welcoming and responsive.

Lots of Room for Our Big Family Group

With family visiting from out of town we wanted a roomy cottage to accommodate a multi-family stay. We loved the three bedrooms, big living room, large four season porch, and large outdoor porch. It had some many spaces to congregate. Everything was well stocked from the dishes & pans, towels, and even lawn chairs. So close to the lake, beach, and Silver Lake about 20 minutes north. Endless stuff to do. Thanks for the great accomodations.

More than expected

This place is bigger than what you would expect. Three perfect bedrooms nice little dining area kitchen big living room with game table and a wonderful sunporch. The outside has three large picnic tables along with a fantastic fire pit.

Great location, great house.

We rented here to hike, kayak, and hit the Silver Lake sand dunes and this was the perfect place. Location was convenient to everything . 1/2 mile from amazing Lake Michigan sunsets. House was very clean and our host Patty was great with very quick responses. Can’t wait to come back next year.

Family cottage in the woods

I really enjoyed our time spent at this family cottage. It was appointed, clean, and offered equal walking distance to lake Michigan or visiting Stoney Lake. Communication with the owner was pleasant. The only thing that might not work for some, the property has a shared grill area (It's noted in the description). Depending on who the others are, what they have planned, their schedule, might not work for you. I would highly recommend just giving the larger house use of the area, not both. I would give it 4.5 stars :) We enjoyed and would stay there again, and again. I forgot to add, the place looks better in person. It is larger, laid out well and the porch is fantastic. ps. They even have a card table!

Swept Away @ Windswept

The absolute perfect getaway cottage for the family or a group of friends. Windswept is so charming with its front porch and large living room. Plenty of space for everyone to relax. The outdoor patio is sunny and large. Perfect place to enjoy coffee in the morning and stargaze at night. There’s a built in fire pit to roast some s’mores and tell stories. Everything was clean, neat and tidy. We weren’t there long enough to use the washer/dryer but that’s included too. The Stony Lake Bar, Stony Lake Chanel, & the Beach are all within walking distance. Patty was so welcoming to my family and very accommodating. We hope to get back here soon. Thank YOU!!

Great House and great location

The house was great and bigger than we expected. We spent a lot of time on the sun porch for morning coffee and relaxing in the evening. The patio area is fantastic and we enjoyed the fire pit very much. The house is only minutes from Lake Michigan. You can easily walk to the beach, or it is a 2 minute car ride. There is a kids camp nearby that has it's hiking trails open to the public. The house is also easy driving distance to state parks and beaches. This is a great place to rent for a family vacation, especially if you have a dog as it is pet friendly.

Great place for family to gather

Our favorite part about Windswept was the huge outdoor area! There was an area for lawn games and plenty of outdoor seating to safely sit together to visit and enjoy meals with two grills and three picnic tables plus a patio table. The inside was clean and well equipped and worked great for two of our daughters and their families with young children. The rest of our family stayed in the loft above the garage and at a cottage 8 miles north with a private beach which was wonderful for our large family this summer. (In an ordinary year, Windswept is located within walking distance of public beaches at Stony Lake and Lake Michigan.) We would definitely stay here again!
