Lakeside (Glen Craft Villas)

Note: Reservations begin January 16th every year.. Lakeside is available May through September. We do have other villas available listed on VRBO.

In a peaceful atmosphere with plenty of sunshine, Glen Craft is ideally located with warm prevailing southwest breezes to our sandy beach and cooler north-westerns over our treetops. Surrounded with Michigan woods, right on the crystal clear waters of Big Glen Lake, yet located 1/2 mile from Glen Arbor and about 2 miles from Sleeping Bear National Park Dune climb this is the perfect spot to enjoy days at "home" and days out exploring the local area.

Smooth, softly sloping sand leads to Glen Lake, just outside your door. Children love it, and adults can relax alongside them. Children can even wade all the way to the anchored raft. We also have a lakeside fire pit with log stools, a dry sauna, small laundry facility, row boat, paddle boards, shuffle board court, beach chaise lounge chairs, a paddle boat, and very nice 8 chaired outdoor dining table.

Lakeside is a two story villa which features a charming double living room with large stone fireplace and queen size pullout, a spacious, full country kitchen with dining area, peaceful main level master suite with queen size bed, sitting area and floor-to-ceiling windows with pristine lake views, main level full bath with shower, large upper level bedroom with three twin beds and third bedroom with queen size bed.

Furnished/Unfurnished Items:
Cable TV, DVD player and wireless internet provided.
Gas grill and beach chaise lounge chairs.
Fully furnished kitchen is complete with range/oven, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster. Blankets and pillows are furnished. Kitchen soaps & bath soaps provided, but no shampoo.

Reservations are confirmed only by advance deposit of 50% the total amount.

Check-In/Check-Out Check in anytime after 4 p.m. Saturday, and check out is 10 a.m. Saturday promptly.

Pets - In order to honor reservations, we request that all pets be left at home.
No Smoking in Lakeside or a fine of $150 will be assessed.
Must be left reasonably clean to avoid a cleaning charge of $150.
Lakesides maximum capacity is 7 at any one time.
Cancellations within 60 days are honored if the time of booking is re-rented.
Reservations begin January 16th every season. Available May-September.

Very pretty lake house

Very pretty, comfortable Michigan lake house. Had lots of fun amenities, and particularly enjoyed the grill. Nice collection of puzzles to pass the time. Excellent location to very cute town and great sightseeing and swimming.

Great Location

This review will never be able to describe the beauty of the lake and surrounding area. This property is located perfectly on the lake and is just minutes away from almost anything you could want to do. Chris the property manager was very nice and hospitable. The only issue we had was there were no towels or sheets in the house when we arrived. I contacted Chris and he brought us what we needed. This was a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation for me and my family.

Wow. Great Host, Great Location, Great Stay!

We absolutely LOVED our stay at this property. We all loved being right on the water and spent way too much time just soaking up the sun and swimming. Chris also provides a bunch of boats (paddle, row, etc.) that entertained us for hours. The water is super shallow and calm, so if you have young kids, you can feel comfortable with them on their own. There's also a fire pit (wood provided) and a grill (propane provided) that we used throughout our entire stay. The house itself was older, but kept clean and tidy. Chris provided everything we needed, including coffee for the machine! We brought our own bedsheets, blankets, and a bunch of groceries - that's all we needed. Chris helped us plan out our short visit during labor day and his location is close to everything. Thank you Chris!

Uncomfortable

You know that person who invites you over but doesn’t really want you there? That was this property. There is lots to do, but only if you want someone watching over you the entire time. The owner interaction was too much and we felt like if we touched something we might get in trouble. There were no sheets on beds, no towels to be had. After the first night in which we slept on top of the beds with no sheets we ended up with a very shy stack of towels, couple of wash cloths and hand towels. We got two dish towels and no beach towels at all. The owner seemed surprised we would want to enjoy the lake and might need some extra towels. I guess the swimmers itch we all have now explains why. The house advertised there were 3 bedrooms but then the owner told us the stairs leading upstairs are dangerous for adults and better for kids eliminating the queen upstairs for my 66 year old mother. This one just misses the mark and isn’t a very relaxing situation at all. I don’t understand why you would rent a property if you really don’t want people there.

Everything you need!

Loved staying here. On Glen lake with paddle boards, paddle boat, kayaks, all available for your use. Also had pickle ball, shuffle board, corn hole, basketball all available in the villas. Chris was super nice gave us tips on exciting things to do. Just minutes from Glen Arbor and Lake Michigan! My family will definitely be back

Great Cottage, Lake and Location

We had a great time. The property was very nice and clean. Christian was very helpful. The Lake was amazing and our three kids (age 2-7) loved swimming everyday. Having the paddle boards and boat was a very nice touch that we enjoyed. We rented a boat for a day from the marina next door which was great. The downtown area is very close and has a lot of nice restaurants and ice cream for the kids. I would highly recommend this property for a summer vacation.

Private feel

My husband and I stayed here with our 4 kids ages 14, 10, 6 and 3 and the property worked out perfectly for us. The kids slept upstairs and we had the master downstairs with glorious views of our basically private beach on Glen Lake. The kids enjoyed the clear waters and white sandy beach, and also the basketball hoop and shuffleboard! We also enjoyed being a 2 minute drive to Glen Arbor and walked to Glen Craft Marina to rent a boat. This is our favorite area of the state and this is a great place to stay!

Wonderful time on Glen Lake

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Lakeside cottage, it was perfect for our family. And we loved the location and the lake views from the living room and the bedroom - a great way to wake up. Chris was a wonderful host - we will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay, steps from the edge of Big Glen Lake's sweet water. The cottage was clean and welcoming at our arrival. Ample space and equipment to cook and serve. And, cozy quiet spots to read and nap. Our host was delightful, informed and attentive. Hiking, bicycling, kayaking are nearby along with restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend this jewel!

Whitecap is part of Glen Craft Villas, which has been family owned and operated since 1947. It is meticulously designed and maintained for guests. While my grandpa Krull purchased this property from the sawmill almost 100 years ago, the other grandpa Field was a legendary architect in the area and designed some cottages after Frank Lloyd Wright. We are the 3rd generation hosting visitors here. We have enjoyed having families grow up together summer after summer here at our villas on Big Glen Lake.
