About this property
Log Castle - On the Beach, Expansive Sound/Mountain View
Formerly a highly rated bed and breakfast, the Log Castle is now available for home rentals. Built with logs harvested from family property, the Log Castle is a warm and welcoming haven for your family and friends. Its eclectic design, stunning water views from most rooms, and beachfront location make it an ideal home base for your vacation. Enjoy the beach, with a wide sandbar, 2 small (kid) and 2 adult size kayaks for paddling, a raft for swimming, and miles of low-populated beach. If your timing is good, you can even watch whales surfacing in the bay just off the deck. The kitchen has been renovated, with stainless appliances, granite counter top, and a 180 degree water view. The large fireplace in the living room makes for a comfortable and cozy retreat. Miles of walking trails extend through the woods across the road. The charming village of Langley is a mile and a half away - a five minute drive or a walk along the beach - with shops, galleries, restaurants, and more. One highlight of the Log Castle is that the kitchen and two bedrooms are each in the eight-sided tower - try not to argue over who gets the top tower room with its phenomenal views. Fishing and swimming (especially when the tide has come in over a sunny sandbar) - make for wonderful family memories.
Bedroom 1 (main floor): Two sets of bunk beds (four singles) Bedroom 2 (2nd floor): Queen bed, plus queen sleep sofa in adjacent sitting room Bedroom 3 (2nd floor tower): King bed Bedroom 4 (3rd floor tower): Queen bed plus sleep sofa All bedrooms have private en suite baths
Kitchen is fully equipped with dishes for 14. The dining table - a great conversation piece made from a base cut of a log harvested in the 1920s - seats eight comfortably and ten if you're good friends.
Wifi and cable are provided; cell phone reception is adequate but not ideal in all areas of the house.
A charming one-bedroom cottage just steps down the hill is now available for rental, if additional sleeping space is needed. It can be rented independently or, if available, in conjunction with the Log Castle. See more information at vrbo.com/4360509.
There is an attached owner occupied apartment, so we can answer any questions or address any issues you may have either in person or by text. Also a 10:00 pm quiet time is requested.

Our large group loved our stay at the log castle. It’s such a unique place and was absolutely beautiful. It was well equipped and we had a fantastic stay.
Our stay at the Log Palace was fabulous! It was our second time staying there yet there were new details noticed in the incredible architecture. The host is super friendly and answered questions about how her father was able to build this building almost single handedly.
We loved our time at the Log Castle. It was such a unique place, and the views!! We used the kayaks, and the kids loved playing on the beach with the sand toys. The kitchen is very well stocked for preparing meals. The hosts were great, and communications and instructions were prompt and clear. We only stayed 2 nights, and we can’t wait to return for a longer stay!
We have stayed here several times, and love the uniqueness of the house as well as the views and the beach. We always enjoy a relaxing week at the log castle!
We could not have found a better location, better hosts, better home, better overall features at the Castle Cabin. We will definitely be returning for more family memories!
This log castle does not disappoint! All bedrooms have a bathroom which is great. Beds are comfy. View is stunning and household amenities are plentiful. Owners are always accessible. Highly recommend this stay!
This trip was everything we never knew we needed. Lea and Dennis were amazing and their home is absolutely incredible. Lea was so kind and so helpful. I cannot wait to return. The house itself is cozy and gorgeous. There is something cool around every turn. The view is absolutely breathtaking. This house is healing. I would 1000x recommend staying here.
We enjoyed our stay so much! Lea was very responsive and helpful and the castle is just absolutely amazing! We couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect place to have a moms and kids weekend!
Me and my friends thoroughly enjoyed staying at log cabin. There is so much to do to keep yourself busy, and your so close to the little town of Langley.
This has become an annual tradition for a dozen of us that meet up every year and play board games for a long weekend. The house is fantastic, the views are beautiful, the hosts are wonderful; it’s just an all-around great spot.
My out of state relatives all converged on this property for a wonderful intro to beautiful Washington State.
Thanks to Lea for providing a perfect spot for us to make precious memories as a family!
From the very beginning of our stay it was magical. The front entry all the way down to the water was a Northwest paradise for our family vacation. Truly one of a kind memory.
Our family had a wonderful stay at the Log Castle. It was great for the kids to play and for the adults to relax. Lea was a warm host and even made us pies from the berries we collected from her berry plants.
This was my 2nd time staying here, and it was just as magical as the first! It was a treat to introduce my traveling companions to this slice of heaven. Lea and her husband are lovely people, and always helpful.
Everything was awesome. Perfectly stocked kitchen and the view was most enjoyed morning and night. The beach was a great place for the kids yo play and take walks. Thank you for sharing this awesome home
We spent a cool winter weekend on Whidbey Island and couldn't have picked a better place to relax and enjoy the cabin, views, and sealife that the Log Castle has to offer. The entire family loved exploring all the unique aspects of the cabin and property, discovering a number of very unique aspects of a hand built family cabin. It was an honor to have had the opportunity to stay here. Thank you.
We’ve been coming to the lot castle for the last 5 years and will keep coming back! The location is unbeatable, and the hosts are amazing! We’ll be back.
Loved it! Perfect house for our family of 7. Everyone was comfortable. The property was beautiful and amazing. Thank you for such great accommodations.

Why they chose this property
This property has been in our family for almost 90 years. 45 years ago, our parents built the Log Castle, designed by our mother and built, for the most part, by our father. Construction used logs harvested from family property and logs and stones collected from the beach. Our parents shared their home with others first as a small retreat center and then as a Bed and Breakfast. We want to continue this hospitality through VRBO.
What makes this property unique
