Paddock Barn ~ Short & Long term stay, pets welcome ~ Woodbridge, Framlingham ar
This property has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by Tripadvisor in 2017 ,2018 & 2019
Paddock Barn is nestled in the heart of the Suffolk country-side and suits those looking for a peaceful short break, a longer holiday or a longer stay. Many of our guests comment on the wonderful rural setting as soon as they pull up the drive.
Paddock Barn has recently been used by guests who decided that they wanted to get out of the city for a few weeks and enjoy the summer in the countryside. They were able to work from the barn The set up of the barn suits families or groups and couples as there are 2 single beds in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the large lounge. Other guests working in the area found that they enjoyed the peace and quiet that the barn provided after a hard days work and also there was plenty of room available for parking and even storage on request. The large fridge freezer and washing machine. The property has also been used for people in between house moves or visiting from abroad and looking for a longer stay.
Being only 45 miles from the Port of Harwich we have had several guests visit from the Netherlands who found the ferry service a very convenient way to visit Suffolk.
Paddock Barn is a ground floor barn accommodation sleeping 2-4 people. It consists of a bedroom, lounge, kitchen/ dining room and a bathroom.
The bedroom has twin beds and there is a double sofa bed in the lounge as well as a sofa and 2 reclining arm chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped and fitted with electric oven, fridge freezer, microwave & washing machine. A tumble dryer is available for use by guests in the adjacent cart lodge. The bathroom has a walk in shower. TV, DVD and internet access are available together with oil fired central heating.
Double patio doors open on to a paved area with garden seating and guests can also enjoy a stroll around the grounds at the location. Plenty of available parking especially for larger vehicles.
BBQ available on request.
Dogs are welcome but we have to consider the safety of our own animals so any dog visiting must be able to get along with our cats, dogs and horses and kept on a lead.
The barn enjoys a very quiet rural farm location with 17 acres of land encompassing the property and acres of farmland surrounding its boundaries which can be explored on one of the many public footpaths. The local landscape is mostly made up of various arable crops along with the odd field of sheep. Barn Owls can often been seen hunting over the pasture especially at dusk and we have plenty of other wildlife around including deer and woodpeckers.
Quiet single track lanes lead to the nearest village of Charsfield about 1.5 miles away where there is a pub, petrol station, church and recreation ground with a tennis court.
The nearest shop and post office is located in the village of Otley about 10 minutes drive away or alternatively at Wickham Market also a 10 minute drive where there are shops and amenities including Chinese & Indian restaurants and a fish & chip shop.
The Suffolk Heritage Coast has many lovely towns and villages to visit including Southwold, Aldeburgh and Orford, the later being about 15 miles from the farm.
Forest walks are close by in the forests of Tunstall, Rendlesham and Dunwich.
Paddock barn is located in the Suffolk countryside about seven miles from the historic small towns of Woodbridge and Framlingham and about 15 miles from the Suffolk Heritage Coast.
Woodbridge is situated on the River Deben and walks along the river can be enjoyed from the town. It also has a very pleasant shopping centre with small interesting shops, pubs and restaurants, Woodbridge has a cinema, railway station and swimming pool.
Framlingham also has plenty of history and is famous for its castle a magnificent 12th century fortress with a long and colourful past which makes a fascinating day out. The castle was once the refuge of Mary Tudor before she became Queen in 1553 and visitors can now explore over 800 years of life at Framlingham Castle. Like Woodbridge, Framlingham also has small shops and coffee shops to visit.
The Suffolk Heritage Coast, an area of outstanding natural beauty is within a short drive. The many places to visit include Aldeburgh which is well known for its international music festival. It also hosts an annual regatta and carnival. There are interesting shops and places to eat including famous fish and chips which can be enjoyed on the beach.
Another is Southwold a charming town with a pier and beach and home to the Adnams beer where you can take a tour of the brewery. At Minsmere you will find the RSPB reserve. There's so much to see and hear at Minsmere: splendid woodland, wetland and coastal scenery, rare birds breeding and calling in on their migrations, shy wildlife like otters, the booming call of bitterns in spring, beautiful bugs and colourful wild flowers in summer. Minsmere was the location of the BBC Spring Watch series in 2014, 2015 and 2016. There are plenty of country pubs in the area to visit if you enjoy eating out.
We are always happy to supply local knowledge including places to eat and pub friendly dogs.

About the host
Hosted by Clare Dearling
We bought the farm in 2005 fulfilling an ambition for a quiet life in the countryside after a career involving a lot of traveling. We enjoy the rural location along with our animals that include horses, dogs, cats and chickens. As well as looking after the guests of the barn we enjoy playing tennis and have an interest in making movie memories using specialist software in particular for people suffering from dementia.
Why they chose this property
The property has a very unique location in that it is located in the centre of 17 acres with fields to the front and back.
However despite its rural location it is easy to get to the coast and the local towns in order to explore our part of Suffolk.
Only 45 miles from the port of Harwich from The Netherlands.
