Our stay was great. The views were amazing and the condo was super nice. Wish we would have had a grill on the balcony and a little more places to sit or even a table in the balcony to sit and eat but overall it was wonderful.

Awesome Experience

We were there for a family reunion. Other family members stayed in different towers. It made it easy to gather. The condo was fully stocked with appliances and comfortable seating indoors and outdoors on the balcony. The views of both gulf and bay were incredible. Easy, friendly check in and check out. Loved our stay!

Great stay at Portofino

This was the first time I stayed at this unit, though I've stayed at the Portofino many times. This was my favorite unit I've stayed in. The view from the very large balcony overlooks the entire resort complex, but you can also see the gulf and the beach very clearly, as well as the Santa Rosa Sound on the other side of the island. There is plenty of room to host 8 people and amply living space to gather. I found the kitchen was well stocked compared to other units I've stayed in. There were also plenty of towels for everyone in all bathrooms. Check-in was incredibly easy, and it was also easy to get a temporary visitor's parking pass for some local friends to come for dinner one night.

Great location!

Portofino is a great property to stay! The activities are endless! It was great for the adults in our party as well as the kiddos. We had an issue with some cleanliness upon check in & the property manager sent over a cleaning person the next day. They were very expedient about it, but the place really needs a deep clean. The floor needs a good hot water, bleach, & Tide scrub to include getting under the couch & beds. All in all we would stay at the property again. The view is amazing & we had a great time.

Read - warning!!!

Checked in. Easy. Noticed glass cracked stove top- took picture of crack 10 min after check in. Was charged $900 for cracked stove. Told them it was like that and I sent pic with entry time. No response. I paid for property protection insurance and said I didn’t break it but use insurance which would completely cover. I was told insurance cancelled since I did not report it. Scam scam scam scam and yes, I have contacted a lawyer, just busy at work to go back there (will need FL lic lawyer.) I love portofino/ go twice a year for years. I usually rent through the portofino itself.This was the first time with this rental co. Never Again. Scam. Fraud. Would not reply to timed pictures showing crack upon entry. But would later respond saying the money I gave THEM for insurance cancelled. If you stay there I suggest you make them do a walk through with you. It was a nice unit, but I only stayed 2 nights and got popped $900 to my Am Ex to help replace their damaged appliance. I hope everyone going there reads this - I have never given a neg review- ever- this one I had to

Mixed experience

We have stayed at Portofino many times over the past 15 years. Most experiences are good or very good. This one was mixed. On the plus side, the Portofino is very nice! We had beautiful sunset views over the sound every evening and the beaches are sugary white sand. Pools are well kept with a busy wait staff keeping everyone happy. However, this particular unit was not up to standard. Overall, I would describe it as shabby - certainly not "lavish" as the title indicates. We had missing base boards and door trim in the master bath and closet that exposed large holes in the drywall. None of the seating in the living or dining area was comfortable to spend any time at all using. The two arm chairs and overstuffed ottoman shown in the pictures were not in the unit. Rather, there were two wobbly metal framed chairs in the main living area. It took two calls before I was able to get the attention of the property manager (Southern Vacation Rentals). I advise you watch closely for check out time - we had to be out by 9am. Renting through a service provider from a property management company is not the "rental by owner" experience - it just layers on more "services" fees for which I cannot tell you the service provided to us. Portofino very nice! VRBO did its job. Southern Vacations - lacking. However, after the second call with Southern, they did issue a 10% refund due to the under-construction state of the condo. Safe travels everyone!

Outstanding family resort

Our family of six adults and two young children had a fantastic time at Portofino Island. Our condo was beautiful, spacious and well appointed- especially the kitchen. Loved everything about it and the resort itself. Had reserved covered parking and the beach was just a short walk across the street, which made it so easily accessible. Our son-in-law said the gym was amazing and we loved being able to see both the bay and the beach right from the large, spacious balcony. Look forward to returning in the future!

Beach fun

Beautiful property with many amenities. Family loved the gentle waves of the cove side with the sea doos, kayaks, obstacle course and then steps away had the excitement of the ocean side though the waves were rough at times for the little ones. The condo was in the middle. Perfect for a gazing out relaxing with the view or lounging in the generously sized living space.

Great location and value, condo needs a few items.

Stayed for a week encompassing Christmas and New Year's. The location is hard to beat. The large and impressive property is the last development at the end of the island. Beach is pristine and nice. Has a large 25 m lap pool as part of their complex and one of the reasons we chose this--very unusual in a property. Nice work out facility. Small store and restaurant on site. There is a bay/sound on the back side of the property with a dock and during the summer there is a floating water park. You can rent or pay for lots of different kinds of activities. We took advantage of a family pass which lasts the duration of your stay--for $200 two adults and two kids get unlimited access to beach chairs, beach games/items, wave runners, surfboards, boogie boards, paddle boards, and even "Scoot Coupes"--gas powered trikes that can fit two side by side. We took advantage of that several times to cruise the island. Condo very nice and spacious. Great amount of room and living space. Great balcony with great views. Only knock I would make is the kitchen amenities. We have stayed in lots of condos and are used to bringing our own stuff, but a more robust starter pack would have been nice--maybe a small bottle of oil, some salt and pepper, small bottle of dishwashing liquid--there were a couple of disposable squeeze packs of dishwasher detergent that had about two squeezes each. Maybe have a basic starter pack that you can choose and pay for upon reserving, either a standard pack or choose a few items. Just nice not to have to carry so much. One of the oven racks was missing which made some of our heating a pain. Last needs plastic storage containers big time. There were none at all so ended up just putting stuff in regular plates and bowls to store. Not a deal breaker, just annoying. Overall again a stellar place. Would definitely consider staying again. Unlike other condos where all you get is the rooms, with this you get the best of both worlds--some resort like amenities with a 24 hour front desk, etc. Also btw the bar/ restaurant had nice food and appetizers and had a happy hour daily for food and drink.

Comfortable and clean.

Property was clean and close to amenities. Bed in master bedroom was comfortable, but pillows were super flat. Would have been nice to have a table and chairs on the patio to eat outside rather than just wooden chairs. Out last unit also had a gas grill which was nice. TV in living room was a little on the small side but we didn’t use it much.

Thanksgiving stay

We loved this unit and the location! We had been to the complex in the 2000s and it was better than remembered! Everything was clean and, especially since it is the winter, easy to social distance. We spent the majority of our time outside of the unit at the big pool area where there were food, good drinks, and a great wait staff! Our only complaint was that the master bedroom bed definitely needs to be replaced. It is sunken on one side in particular and made it to where we were shifting around who was sleeping where. The master was the one with the biggest problem, but the rest are getting to needing to be replaced as well. Overall we all loved our stay and cannot wait to go back!!!!

We love Portafino Resort

The condo was beautiful and had so much room!!! We stayed with our three 20 something boys and never felt cramped. The staff at Portafino are wonderful and the restaurants are beyond fantastic!! Food prices are very reasonable and the quality and variety make it hard to find a reason to leave the property!!!! This was out second stay at Portafino and we will definitely be back.

Great condo for large family. Really liked the room with two full beds. Very close to the life center. Great view of fireworks from balcony. Needs maintenance to correct small things such as replace light bulbs, tighten ceiling fan in master bedroom, bathroom doors don’t lock. Overall great condo. Would stay there again.

Last Minute Reservation

We planned our vacation as a last minute getaway and I took a chance on this first time booking on VRBO. Let me say - loved this! The unit was great for 7 of us. Had wonderful views, great amenities, walk over to beach, bay and pool, hot tub and eateries. We enjoyed the small population and seclusion, avoiding all the touristy areas. Staff, and residents, were all so friendly and helpful. We can’t wait to go back. We even had awesome views of the Blue Angels this week flying right over our balcony. Great accommodations and hoping I can book this unit again! Would like to find one with premier status as you get some extra comps but that is about the only thing I would change. Truly almost had me figuring out a way to stay as a permanent resident haha. We’ll be back!

This is my second visit to Portofino and 1st to this property. It was as I remembered - excellent

Everything was great, but could not figure out how to work the dvd player in the living area. Also the overhead light in the living area appeared to be burned out. I used other lights that were available so did not miss it. I would love to return next year if I am in good health and all is well at my home. Every time I try to leave, something comes up at home. This year it was a new grandbaby, but he actually waited until I returned home. I was really surprised he waited so long.
