Welcome to White Squirrel’s Nest, where rustic cabin charm meets elegant simplicity. This cedar sided home is nestled in Sherwood Forest off Hwy 276 surrounded by a beautiful, peaceful forest. On the inside of this home you will see its true colors of elegance and simplicity with an open floor plan on the main level. With a fully functional kitchen that opens up to the dining area. The living room centers around the wood-burning fireplace, a great place for movie night.

Upstairs you will find two bedrooms and a full bathroom. Each room has designer-colored walls, it is the smaller of the two rooms that features a balcony and a stain glass window of a white squirrel.

Additionally, fall in love with the magic of Sherwood Forest and enjoy all it has to offer. This enchanting area includes more than 20 miles of hiking trails with meandering streams and gentle waterfalls. Explore and see if you can find the old stills! Enjoy fishing on five lakes, swimming in a heated junior Olympic pool, play tennis, and golf on an executive course where the hazards include wildflower beds and an occasional llama caddy. Private Home nestled between Dupont State Forest and Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area (Jones Gap State Park + Caesars Head) and 15 minutes to downtown Brevard. Only a 45 minute drive to Asheville Regional airport and Spartanburg/Greenville, South Carolina.

White Squirrel Nest is a charming place to stay in Sherwood Forest. It has everything you need for a comfortable visit and has easy access to everything the community has to offer. It made a great overflow house for our family and friends and I not hesitate to rent it again.

We had a lovely week in Sherwood Forest. It was nice and cool and we were able to do a lot of hiking. The residents are just as friendly as can be. The house suited all our needs. Please be aware that the bedroom upstairs with the double bed is extremely hard and painful to sleep on for someone with a bad back. Don’t know about the twin beds. The bed downstairs was plenty comfortable. We would stay here again 😊

Well kept house

This house has the best equipped kitchen I have ever seen in a rental, even down to a Kitchen Aid if you feel like making a cake! I would recommend adding a couple of upholstered chairs in the small den by moving a table and rearranging. There was only one armchair and a loveseat and an upright upholstered chair. As the house sleeps six, you would have to draw straws for a comfortable seat. Everything was spotless. Could do with some heavier bed coverings for a winter rental, but perhaps the owners supply those as the weather turns cooler.

Great, cozy little house!

We came up to Brevard as a last minute vacation when our AC went out in Charleston during a heat wave. Boy did we like the shade, mountains and AC at this house in the beautiful Sherwood Forest neighborhood! This was a great house for just me and my husband. We always enjoy coming to the mountains. Hope to be back again soon!

A few additions at little expense

I love this place! A few additions would make it even more wonderful. 1. There are lots of bath towels but no hand towels. Buy some, please -- or reveal the hiding place. 2. Buy dish towels, too. 3. And a dish rack for the right sink. Not everyone uses a dishwasher. 4. Get a small rug or mat for the floor in front of the sink. Wet dishes drip! And please don't forget to have that dead oak removed. It's dangerous!

White Squirrel Nest

Quiet, outside Brevard roughly 12 miles, which you won’t mind as you enjoy riding thru the Countryside. The Cedar Mtn Cafe just further down the road has a fine menu that will give you second thoughts about cooking. Dual porches. You’ll unravel your tensions; we kept the tv off most days. Relax.

The location of this property was perfect! We travelled into Brevard, Pisgah and Hendersonville - all 30-45 min away. Great neighborhood to walk the dogs or get a little exercise!! Very quiet location and we felt very safe. Sadly we did not have room to bring our golf clubs but would have loved to have played as it was right at the entrance to the neighborhood. Great little diners close by! We had a few questions/issues when first arrived and the team was so helpful and courteous. Issues were resolved without hesitation. Communication leading up to trip was excellent both via phone calls and electronically. Very appreciative of the care and concern for our stay.

Great location and clean

We booked The White Squirrel for a last minute getaway after Christmas. The neighborhood (Sherwood Forest) was absolutely adorable. It was super quiet and felt very secluded. If you’re looking for a Mountain view, you won’t get them here, but the charm of the Sherwood Forest Community makes up for it. The cabin was very clean. There was ample towels and bed linens for the six of us. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, utensils. There was even an instantpot, if that’s your thing. There was a great little info binder with info you needed to know that we found helpful, including a link to buy firewood to be delivered for the fireplace. It was chilly, but the screened in porch would be wonderful in the warmer months. There isn’t a ton of yard to speak of if that matters to you for your kids or dog. (This rental is dog friendly!) we didn’t have a problem with that as we spent our time at DuPont Forest hiking and touring the Biltmore. This would have been a 5 star review except for the following. 1) Sound carries through the house like I’ve never experienced before. It’s mostly wood flooring except the two upstairs bedrooms. There are very thin rugs in the living and dining area and no curtains. Once the kids went to bed, we had to be quite because they could hear us clearly upstairs. There is little privacy to be had because of that. Maybe some curtains would help absorb some of the sound? 2) Although the house can sleep six there was not nearly enough seating in the living room for all six of us with just a small loveseat and chair. We didn’t spend too much time just sitting around, but I could see how that could be a downside to some. The couch was super soft and broken down, making it not very comfortable. For the price range of the rental I expect to be comfortable in the living room. Overall, a great experience and we had a great trip!

If you are looking for views, you won't find them here as the house is surrounded by trees, but it is very well equipped, especially the kitchen. It could do with some more comfortable seating as the house sleeps six, but the den has only a loveseat and armchair with an upright upholstered chair. Den is small but could be rearranged. Otherwise, nice place to stay.

Wedding in neighborhood, great location, kitchen stocked nicely.

A slight moldy smell. Could use a deep cleaning. Most surfaces were clean, floor and walls definitely could use some attention. The living room furniture is not the most comfortable and only room for 3 maybe 4 small people to seat in the living area. Great house! Would consider again, without the elderly grandparents who did struggle with the steps. LOVED the screened porch!
