About this property
Stunning Villa and Garden w/ Pool and Sweeping Views in the Heart of Fornalutx
Nestled in the 11th century village of Fornalutx, one of Spain's most beautifully preserved destinations, our home offers the perfect blend of history and modern comfort. Situated on a quiet cobblestone street, the home is open and spacious with lush rambling gardens, a stunning pool and bocce ball court. Sitting by the pool, serenaded by the gentle creek, soft birdsong, and breathtaking views, it’s easy to forget that the home is just a 3-minute walk from the vibrant village plaza. Once you enter the gate, you are welcomed by cascading bougainvilleas, climbing roses, lavender, orange trees, and rosemary, and the soothing flow of the creek nearby.
INTERIOR:
Originally a historic olive mill converted by our grandparents in the 1950s, the home has been transformed into a spacious, authentic oasis. Its rambling garden, filled with roses, orange trees, and bougainvillea, provides a tranquil escape, while large glass doors open to the pool and breathtaking views of the lush Sóller valley and the majestic Tramuntana mountains. Whether enjoying your morning coffee, reading a book, or savoring a late-night cocktail on the patio, the setting is pure paradise.
The home features 2 bedrooms, each designed for relaxation and comfort:
Upstairs, a king bedroom with a private patio and outdoor shower overlooks the pool and valley. Adjacent is a large bathroom with shower a double vanity and separate toilet.
On the main floor is an ensuite king bedroom with private patio overlooking the inner courtyard surrounded by flowers and orange trees and the creek below. The bathroom features a shower and a double vanity.
With 3.5 newly updated bathrooms, a remodeled kitchen, and spacious living and dining areas, the home effortlessly blends modern amenities with its historic charm. The dining room flows into the living room, where double doors open to outdoor eating areas, the pool, and a vast garden. The living room, with its soaring ceilings, provides ample space for large groups, while both the living and dining areas are air-conditioned for comfort.
The Spanish-tiled kitchen, featuring a large dining table, overlooks a beautiful inner courtyard with a second long outdoor dining table surrounded by magnolia and orange trees. Fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, gas stove, oven, and refrigerator, it’s perfect for preparing meals to enjoy al fresco.
The expansive garden, filled with flowers, fig, orange, and lemon trees, leads to a bocce court, ideal for friendly competition.

GARDEN
The pool is flanked by climbing roses, bougainvilleas, hibiscus plants and the orange grove. Sitting by the pool is one of the world’s greatest treats, with the gentle flow of the creek; the distant sound of the goats’ bells as they climb the hills; the lingering scent of jasmine and orange blossoms; and the spectacular view. Just beyond the pool and orange grove is the petanc court (bocce ball). We’ve had some great tournaments there!
ACCESS:
Unlike many newer homes in Fornalutx, ours is uniquely accessible. Located on a quiet, walkable street, you can safely stroll to the plaza and drive directly to the house—no navigating long staircases, pedestrian-only lanes, or parking far away. We’re not perched on the outskirts, up in the hills, or along the main road with fast-moving traffic and no sidewalks. Enjoy the rare convenience of unloading luggage, beach gear, or groceries right at the door—without sacrificing the charm of being truly in town.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
There is parking for three cars (two with in the gates and one outside the gate). Please note that the streets in Mallorca are very narrow and we advise renting a compact or small car. While we usually rent smaller SUVs.
VILLAGE
The home is very private, despite being just a 3 minute walk to the village plaza. As you walk along the cobblestone streets, you pass the carefully tended stone homes, all of which contribute to the beauty of the village. The plaza is the center of this ancient Moorish town with a quaint, fully equipped convenient store, a bank, post office, natural and traditional pharmacy, bakery, and several wonderful restaurants and cafes, and a magnificent church. The cafes at the plaza are open from the early morning until 12 at night. There is also great hiking trails just steps from the house.

About the host
Hosted by Alicia Engstrom

Our grabdmother bought this property in the 1950's when she was looking for refuge from the cold and dark winter days in Sweden. She lovingly converted it from an olive mill into the light filled home it is today. She was a painter and fell in love with the lull of the rambling creek and the the abundance of flowers on the property. We have cared and loved for this house for almost 70 years.
Why they chose this property
Despite being a stone's throw from the center of town, this home feels like it is in the middle of the countryside. It is a sprawling home with many open spaces, grouped seating, indoor and outdoor lounging and dining areas. Ideal for a large group as guests have space to spread out but also intimate spaces to congregate. It is very private and quiet.
What makes this property unique
Spacious light filled home with soaring ceilings. Large pool with beautiful vistas. Several private terraces. Sunny and shady areas to lounge. On property parking. 2 minute walk to town plaza.
