About this property

"Garden At Eden" Located In Historic Thousand Island Park On Wellesley Island

This is a quaint two bedroom cottage located in Thousand Island Park, which is historic private community on the far West end of Wellesley Island. The Island is nine miles long and four miles wide, nestled along the Canadian border. It is accessible via suspension bridge to both the US and Canada.

Thousand Island Park is on the national registry of historical places, so it looks much the same as it did when it was established back in 1875. Visiting the Park is like stepping back in time, both the architecture and the way of life is reminiscent of a time gone by.

This was, and still is, largely a pedestrian community where all are within easy walking distance of the common facilities: dock, beach, playground, corner soda fountain, Restaurant, Library. Today golf carts are often used, few cars and absence of through traffic make the Park very kid-friendly. Activities include daily supervised youth activities, church services, tennis courts, kayak rentals, basketball, movies and also community activities like ice cream socials and band concerts. You will find the community and its residents very friendly and inviting.

Wellesley Island is located in the heart of the Thousand Island region with many local attractions close by. The Island is located between Clayton and Alexandria Bay with a multitude of dinning and sight seeing opportunities. While in the area a must see is the historic bold castle, which is accessible by several sightseeing boat lines out of Alexandria bay.

The cottage is very cozy and the screened in porch seats seven people. There are two bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. It is on a double corner lot so there is plenty of room for outdoor activities. The cottage has been in my family for six generations and I have had the same "great" neighbors for over forty years.
