About this property

6 BR Waterfront Thousand Islands Cottage with Boldt Castle Views

Welcome to your Thousand Islands getaway! Situated on a private one-acre waterfront lot in historic Westminster Park on Wellesley Island, this charming six-bedroom cottage comfortably sleeps up to 13 guests and offers beautiful views of iconic Boldt Castle across the water.

Our family has owned and cherished this cottage for more than 50 years. Over the decades, it has been the setting for family reunions, fishing trips, sunset boat rides, and countless summer memories. We are delighted to share this special place with our guests.

Unlike many Thousand Islands destinations, Wellesley Island is accessible by car, making travel easy and convenient. The property sits in a protected bay with a private dock and excellent opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, and relaxing by the water.

One of the home's most beloved features is its enormous screened-in porch – nearly 50 feet long and wrapping around the side of the house. Whether you're enjoying your morning coffee, reading a book, playing games with family, or gathering for an evening meal, the porch is where many guests spend most of their time.

The cottage offers plenty of room for extended families and groups, with two large living rooms, six bedrooms, and two full bathrooms.

Alexandria Bay, with its restaurants, shops, boat tours, mini golf, and attractions, is just a short trip away – approximately 5–10 minutes by boat or 15–20 minutes by car.

The charming river town of Clayton, home to the renowned Antique Boat Museum, is only about 25–30 minutes by boat or 20–25 minutes by car.

About the host

My grandparents bought this house 49 years ago. As a child, my cousins and I lived here all summer. During the days, we caught fish, frogs, snakes, and insects. We made forts in the woods and skied in our bay and beyond. We swam and boated daily. In the cool months, we sat by the fire roasting marshmallows as one Aunt played her guitar. We went to the movies in the tabernacle at TI Park, visited the local library and spent hours laughing on our extra large screened in porch overlooking the River and Boldt Castle. When I "grew up", I lived in Washington, D.C. and couldn't spend significant time there. So for about 10 years, I served on the Board of Save The River, which kept me connected to the River throughout the year.

When my grandparents died, the house was left to my father and his siblings. A few years later, my husband and I also became partial owners, and I have since managed it for our extended family. We are lucky to enjoy it with our children, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and second cousins a couple weeks each year now. This is my favorite place on earth – and we are happy to share it with you.
