Everything was top notch! The cottage was beautiful! Clean as a pin! Enjoyed drinking my morning coffee on the front porch watching the deer that came out! Had a glass of wine at the fire pit at sundown. Also, the cottage was very centrally located, we made it out to Wimberley, Greune and San Marcus.
This was probably one of the cleanest place we have stayed at in a while. Everything was was in place, smell was great, and exactly as pictured. If you’re going to the lake, you are literally only 5-10 minutes away and shopping is not far as well as grocery store. Our only complaint was the Wi-Fi was not great, but we never asked anyone about it to see if there was a problem. We would highly recommend this place as a great place to recharge your batteries and relax.
Absolutely in love with this place, canyon lake park was 5 min away where we spent the day at the lake. LOVED the special touches of the cottage, the wine & cheese and those delicious fresh farm eggs! Will be back when is cooler so we can hike on the property! Thank you to the most gracious hosts!
From arrival to departure we lacked for nothing!!! There was only one bad thing, WE HAD TO LEAVE😞…we will be back and Ms Sherry, thanks for all the help you were and also your patience with me and all the questions!! Never had fresh eggs and boy were they big and good…the breeze is continual and so peaceful! Coming back before end of year for sure! God bless this couple and their property!
We were so happy to find a place close to the things we like to do. The cabin was adorable and so comfortable. All the little personal touches made you feel right at home. We will be back!
The cottage had everything you would ever want or need. The bed was very comfortable! Private little area where the cottage is located. Fresh eggs if you want them. A free bottle of wine with cheese & crackers were a bonus too! This was very close to Canyon Lake where we took our boat and enjoyed the Texas Hill Country!!
My family and I stayed at the Canyon Peaks for 4th of July weekend, and it was such a great experience! Very cozy, beautiful scenery, the cottage was clean, beautifully decorated & had everything we needed. Sherry was very nice, professional, and responsive. The location is very convenient to all major destinations and not far from Comal Park/Canyon Lake. We will definitely be back in the future!
Overall the cottages were great. They have a nice lookout and got to see plenty of deer which was enjoyable while drinking coffee in the rocking chairs. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
My wife and I stayed for her birthday celebration and we absolutely loved this place! The pictures do not do it justice. It's a perfectly quaint, comfortable little house. It's in an ideal location in between Canyon Lake, the River, and Wimberly, so there is no shortage of things to do. Perfect for a weekend trip to the Hill Country! I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Just perfect for a quick weekend getaway!
The cottage was just perfect for a weekend getaway for two. Everything was nicely cleaned and well kept. The bed was extremely comfortable! The only thing we did not love was that the floors were a little too slippery but it was probably just from the wood polish used to clean the floors. Other than that I can say we will definitely return for another wonderful stay.

The cottage was beautifully built and decorated; so many thoughtful touches with the guest in mind.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was serene and peaceful, and the cottage was perfectly comfortable and quaint. We loved the beautifully executed mix of vintage, rustic and contemporary. We will definitely visit again!

It's a great little place with good privacy and the fresh eggs are awesome. The outdoor fire pit is especially nice and the owners provide the wood. There was even a fire built in the fire pit when we got there. The TV is a Roku TV, so streaming only. The internet service was fast enough for my son and I to stream two shows at once. The place was clean, very nicely setup and the owners responsive. The king bed is super tall, so if you have a kid sleep in it, ask for a roll-away bed to border the bed.
There are a couple small things keeping it from being a 5. The place seems like it was built from some new materials, but a lot of reclaimed stuff too. The old floors add a lot of charm, but the windows are counter-weighted, don't seal well. Traffic on the nearby road is pretty consistent through the evening and can be heard inside when it's quiet.
The furniture in the living room looks great, but lacks functionality like being able to fit your knees under the breakfast table. A dimmer on a light or two would be a nice touch, but luckily the owners provided a couple glass candles to help with that.
Overall it's a great little place in a great location. I only bring up the small notes so future renters can plan accordingly. We would most definitely stay again. Thank you for the great stay!

Soul satisfying
My husband and I stayed here to have a restful anniversary, we were so impressed with the beauty of the area, the rustic and yet completely new cottage. We were so comfortable and felt nurtured, the owners are fantastic, and we cooked all our meals in, we really enjoyed it and will be back again. Our favorite part was watching the deer eat at night and the short walk to pick up the fresh eggs and say good morning to the chickens! Truly enjoyed it!

About the host
Hosted by Sherry
Gary and Sherry spend most of their time at Canyon Peaks Ranch, where they manage the land, wildlife, and four guest cottages. Gary is a retired Navy Commander who chose a second careers at Brinks Home Security before finally "retiring" once and for all to the Hill Country. Sherry founded The Newsletter Company in Dallas in 1981 and continues to play a role in managing the business.
Why they chose this property
Growing up in Houston, we vacationed in the Hill Country, enjoying the cool springs in summer and festivals like Wurstfest in the fall. During my four years at UT, we'd explore the Hill Country towns from Wimberley to Luckenbach and all points in between. One of the most scenic views in all of the Hill Country is a stretch of FM 32 nicknamed "The Devil's Backbone" because of it's winding curves and spectacular views. We were frequent visitors to the area, and always dreamed of retiring in the Hill Country. We looked for 5 years before finding the perfect property. We wanted a ranch with views, and we also wanted a property with easy highway access to give us the ability to add future retail and restaurants along FM 32. When a portion of Holm’s ranch came up for sale in this choice spot, we bought the property and began building!
What makes this property unique
The cottages are architecturally unique, a mixture of old and new with focus on beautiful architectural pieces from the past. Sherry's passion is restoring historic structures, including an office building in Downtown Dallas and a home in the State-Thomas Historic district that dated back to the 1880's. You'll pass by an old blue Victorian house at the entrance on FM 32, which we moved from Austin in 2016 and are in the process of restoring for commercial use. When historic structures can't be found, Sherry builds new construction with architectural pieces from the past. The framing and "bones" of the cottages are new material, and the finishing touches include vintage pine shiplap floors, vintage windows with weights and "float glass", interesting divided light doors, all of which flood the cottages with light. Make no mistake: these are not dark and dingy cabins in the woods! They are four colorful cottages on 24 acres with walking trails and a community fire pit. It's a place to enjoy nature, kick back and relax, in the comfort of your own little cottage with all the comforts of home. You’ll enjoy the easy access to major roads, with a private, secluded, quiet country experience. Pick up eggs from the chicken coop and make your morning breakfast, or just enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch as you relax and watch the wildlife.
