The host, Bob, was very helpful and friendly! The cottage itself was beautiful and the view with it was amazing! Everything in Petty Harbour was within walking distance from the cottage! WiFi was great and Bob had the kitchen already stocked with helpful items, such as tea and coffee. Check in and check out was very easy!

Bob was a great host. We had a couple of minor questions (when to take out garbage for instance) and he was quick to respond. This little cottage is bigger than the photos suggest. Great spot for 4 or 5 people.

I can't say enough good things about this property and the host. Bob was so kind and helpful and full of great suggestions. Took us out fishing and caught us 5 fish! (we caught two!). Packaged them up for us and I am flying with them home. The cottage was clean and well stocked (even better than a hotel). Beds were really comfortable. We went ziplining which was literally at the bottom of the hill from the cottage. Had delicious ice cream at Tinkers ice cream shop, also at the bottom of the hill. Can't wait to come back here!

Perfect place close to St Johns

We enjoyed Robert's place very much. Petty Harbour is unique and has to be seen. Located close to many places that need to be visited while in that region of NL. Robert was very good to us helping with advices and eve booked us on a cod fishing excursion. Can't be better.

We were met at the property by Bob the host and he spent a lot of time with us showing us around and explaining what was available locally. Very helpful and much appreciated. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the utensils you could need. Also there were a lot of basic food items so check in before you shop! The village restaurant is very good and just a few minutes walk away. The nearest supermarket is aout a 10 min drive as is the fresh sea food store. The harbour is very scenic and a great area for a stroll. We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 day stay. Many thanks Bob. Brenda and Robin, Ontario

Perfect Newfoundland Get Away

Bob, your place was fantastic. The pictures on VRBO do not do it justice. It was well equipped beautifully decorated and the beds were very comfortable. Bob even reached out to us to see if we needed anything. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Petty Harbour. It was 20 minutes to a half hour drive from all that we wanted to do. You must also check out the restaurant Chafe’s Landing. Great food and service.

Very comfortable and well-equipped cottage

Everything we could need was provided in this rental. Bob, our host, was very easy to communicate with, checked on us during our stay and made the effort to personally meet us. The fishing village of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove is very picturesque although it is a bit of a distance from the city center. One would definitely need a car for this stay.

I am very happy you enjoyed your stay at CottageHill Petty Harbour. Although cabs are available back and forth to downtown St. John's , having a car at your disposal is much more convenient. It's a 15 min drive to downtown St. John's, and cabs run about $30 each way. There is a beautiful walking trail from the cottage in Petty Harbour, to St. John's, but it is still quite a hike. It takes about an hour and a half.

The cottage was all that was shown and more. Anything that you could think of that would be needed was provided. The host, Bob, was very helpful and provided helpful tips about the cottage and the area to make the most of our visit. A high quality experience staying here. I'd highly recommend it to anyone basing themselves out of the St. John's area.

We highly recommend this cottage. It’s got everything you need for a stay in Petty Harbor. There’s enough to do in Petty Harbor, relax, hike, fish or go on a boat tour to see whales and other wildlife. The locals are are accommodating and everyone we ran into was nice. The cottage has a modern feel with enough rustic charm to let you know you are someplace special. Generous kitchen, the deck has outstanding views of the harbor and some ocean too. There are so many little extras like the lighted drawers in the bedrooms and the charging plugs right by the beds that make this place so comfortable. And even though we didn’t turn the tv on once, there’s a great dvd collection for that rainy day you just want to chill inside. We really hope to return here again.

Robert has done an amazing job renovating the property, there is so much attention to detail and the design is very well thought out. At the time of writing the photos don't do it justice. The atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant to spend time in. There are some interesting things to look at in the living area too, including local interest books, musical instruments, games, pictures and a curio cabinet. The location is quiet and picturesque for those who prefer to be outside the city but is still a convenient drive from shops, attractions and St. John's. It's located right on the ECT, convenient for hiking. I visited for a solo photography getaway in winter. Keep in mind many businesses catering to tourists close for the season. However, if you like the great outdoors there's still much to see in the area within a 1 hour drive and you won't have to deal with crowds.

Comfortable Cottage, Picturesque Location/View, and Wonderful Host

Wow! Bob's Cottage Hill was an outstanding experience for us. We loved being relatively close to St. John's (could drive there in ~20 minutes) while still enjoying the quiet, serenity, and gorgeous view of Petty Harbour. The Petty Harbour location is relatively close to St. John's (and to Witless Bay and really close to Cape Spear Lighthouse) and also to newer communities in the area for daily supplies (though Bob has provided most of anything one would need). Bob is a welcoming host who answered questions and provided us with ideas for things to see and do in the area. He has stocked his cottage with all types of things that a traveler might need. Having a large dedicated sparking space next to the cottage was also convenient. The cottage also has many electrical outlets and USB connections and really fast Wifi. We loved returning to this cottage after busy days in St. John's and on the Avalon Peninsula and were sorry we had to leave! We had planned much to do while in the area during the day because we'd rather be out and about seeing things than stuck in a hotel room, but this cottage made us wish we had left more time to enjoy its comfort, ambiance, and view.
