We had a great stay! Perfect area downtown saugatuck. Not far from Douglas or Holland, we even spent part of a day in Grand rapids. Definitely very tight space, but good use of the space with how everything is set up.
This was such a sweet little cottage! My stay was only for a couple of nights and it was just me - the size is perfect for one! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the bed wasn't the most comfortable, but it was fine for the short amount of time I was there.
We loved staying in the cottage again, love the town of Saugatuck and the cottage is in a perfect location. Erik is a great host with timely communication.
It was located in a quiet neighborhood,.. Cute shot-gun looking house. The shower would be a problem if your obese or Tall, I didn’t have an issue as I’m shorter.
It’s perfectly located away from busy, but close enough to walk to busy district.
I definitely will be back.
This was our eighth time staying here, so that should tell you something. Check out my other reviews for more info. Just need to reiterate - your own dedicated parking spot!! Two new to us places just down the street include Saugataco (which has to-go six packs of beer) and Retro Boat Rentals, which has the CUTEST back patio on the K-Zoo River. Host is above and beyond accommodating and you can tell how much he loves his properties.
We have stayed at this cottage several times over the years and just stayed there again over the past weekend. It is perfect for a place to park your car and walk around the city. We will stay there again should our travels take us to Saugatuck.
We love staying here. The location is ideal, and the boarding house is cozy and nostalgic. Easy checkin, dedicated parking and right down the street from Saugataco -a delicious new addition to the city.
My husband and I stayed at Birkys cottage and it was perfect for the two of us. It was nice to have a parking spot and to be able to walk into town. We will stay again next year,
Thanks Eric!
My husband and I had the most lovely stay at this cottage. It has everything you need and is an incredible location. The futon bed is also super comfy! Will definitely stay again :)
This property is not like the pictures! The place is small but absolutely perfect for 2 people! It had everything that we needed for the few days that we stayed. We were in walking distance to downtown Saugatuck, which was great given that on the weekends there is no parking!! Douglas and Oval beach are less than 10 minutes away. Everything we needed was so close by to where we stayed. Communication with the property manager was fantastic, they answer so quickly. The cute little house was something that everybody loved as they walked by. If you are thinking of staying in Saugatuck, this is the place!
Overall a great place to stay! Very clean, host was friendly, and it’s in a really nice neighborhood within walking distance to local restaurants. It’s a little small but still has everything you need!
Birkie’s Board Room Cottage was AMAZING!!!! It’s kind of a tiny house but it had everything we needed for two people: a bed, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. The place was very clean. It was within walking distance of downtown Saugatuck. Communication with the owner was very easy. He got back to me in a very respectable time. We will definitely stay there again if we’re in lower MI. It was so adorable and lovely. I loved, loved, loved it.
Nice walking distance to the great little town.. 10 minutes to Douglas and oval beach…no interaction with property owner but that’s how I like it…I don’t need much and like my privacy..they are close if your different than me in that area..I think someone else mentioned shower.., gotta say I was leary, it’s small but I took showers when I didn’t need too..phenomenal pressure…all and all good place, excellent town and location
What this property has going for it: Location. It's right on top of downtown Saugatuck, so art, eating, and shopping was just a very short distance away. When you walk out the front door, if you look right, you will see a boat launch a block and a half away.
It's also in a quiet area, so it's possible to escape the tourist hub-bub for a quick afternoon nap.
Other positives: Easy to find, easy to leave. The cottage itself has great air circulation. I thought it was great value for the price.
It was perfect for what I was looking for.
The only drawback is the size of the interior. It's tight enough that it doesn't have a full kitchen. I travel solo and don't need a lot of room, so it wasn't a problem for me. If you need space, it might feel a bit confined.
Another amazing stay at Birkey’s. You really can’t beat the location, amenities, and price at this little gem. See my earlier reviews for details. We have stayed many times. Thank you, Eric, for being such an amazing host. See you next year!
