The cottage is quite lovely. Perfect for a small family
Quaint . Location is perfect for day trips around the highlands. Closest town, aberlour is quite lovely with restaurants, butcher, hardware store (where you can buy logs and kindling for warmth), cafe and a Coop for grocery shopping. Walkers shortbread factory is right outside the town proper!
It is a wonderful cottage in the middle of everything! We hiked, visited distilleries, and enjoyed great food. The hosts made excellent recommendations! We loved it!
The location was lovely--complete with the sound of the river behind the cozy and inviting back garden. The house was charming, and was a wonderful place to relax after our day trips. Information on the surrounding area was so helpful, and inspired some wonderful walks.
It was a great stay for us. We did the dramathon, so a bit of a ride to the start, but it was such a lovely home. All the amenities taken care of, beautiful water view in the back garden. All communications and instructions were clear. It was so cozy, we loved our stay here.
My family of 4 adults stayed at this cottage, and were very pleased with every single aspect of it. Great location for the Northern Highlands, gorgeous garden, and informative host.
Great cottage! It had EVERYTHING we needed and wanted! Very clean and just adorable. Laura and Ben were very easy to get ahold of with any questions we may have had about our stay. Would highly recommend if staying in the Aberlour area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is charming and very complete. You will find anything you may need during your stay. The setting by the river is a real bonus. Make sure to do your groceries in advance and make diner reservations if you need to.
We've had a wonderful time in these lovely area. The right place to explore and discover the sea and mountains. What we needed was there, all in good conditions. The sound of the river Livet, the many birds and the fantastic nature was stunning. Thanks for a great vacation in your little cottage. Sincerely Sandra
We found "Waterside Cottage" to be a charming little retreat. Despite its compact size, the cottage is practically and cozily furnished, providing everything you need for a comfortable stay. Its peaceful location next to the River Livet, near an old smugglers' bridge, adds to its unique charm. However, do note that it is close to a road where cars tend to drive quite fast, which can be a concern. Overall, it's a lovely spot for a quiet getaway in the Speyside region.
The house is very old, but very nicely modernised. (Floor heater, WiFi in all rooms). The kitchen is perfectly equipped and well organised. We enjoyed our stay very much. The location in the very rural area, close to the Glenlivet destillerie is nice. On one hand, it is very quiet ... on the other hand, easily nice locations can be reached in short time, by car.
The cottage is in an idyllic location, we loved sitting in the back garden overlooking the river! The Packhorse bridge is just a few steps away and the Glenlivet Distillery is within easy walk as well as a lovely trail to Drumin Castle.
The cottage itself is beautiful and well furnished, with comfy beds and sofas. We especially enjoyed the board games and magazines! Some fresh supplies in the kitchen (like milk) would be appreciated but everything else you might need was there. We had a great stay, its the perfect place for both relaxing in the cottage or exploring the highlands by car.
We really enjoyed our stay in this very cosy cottage. The accommodation was very well equipped and clean. The hosts were very welcoming and responsive. The location and surrounding area is just beautiful. We enjoyed a lovely walk from the door to the Glenlivet Distillery, the bar was very welcoming and the soft drinks, coffee and whiskey were all great, so everyone was happy! We also drove out to Ben Rinnes on a beautiful sunny day and had a great walk up to the top, the views were spectacular. We also drove out to Aviemore and did a lovely walk to Loch an eilein.
Unfortunately the Wi-fi in the cottage was poor, we didn't take OS maps with us, so it was really tricky to plan walking routes without the internet and the double bed really really needs upgrading.
We will be back to Scotland next year, it never ever disappoints :)
So charming. Well equipped with everything we needed. Idyllic location. Enjoyed it so much and it was the perfect way to end two incredible weeks in Scotland.
The property was beautiful and thoughtfully stocked with everything you need, especially the kitchen. The area is beautiful, great walks from the cottage and a fabulous base for exploring further afield. I only wish we could have stayed longer.
I stayed 5 weeks at Waterside Cottage. Form the first monent I felt like at home. A lovely, cosy and very clean cottage with everything you need. And the nice little river behind the terrace ... I loved! I'll tell everyone of it, wether he wants to hear it or not! :-)) Many thanks to Laura and Ben, best hosts ever!!

Hi we're Laura & Ben, the owners of Waterside Cottage. We hope you love the cottage and location as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Waterside Cottage as soon as we first spotted it for sale online. And then when we viewed it we knew we just had to make it ours. Fortunately the dream came true and now we have the joy of sharing the cottage for others to enjoy too. The cottage has lots of charm and nothing beats the peaceful sound of the river Livet that runs behind the garden. We love hearing about our guests stays and we're always looking for ways to improve the cottage. Since 2019 we've redecorated and made many improvements including installing double glazed windows and a cute Hobbit stove in the living room for added cosiness.
