Cosy Shepherd's Hut with Secret Garden in rural Herefordshire
Ynys Hut is a cosy hand-built Shepherd's Hut set in a beautiful secret garden.
A warm and peaceful space all year round. In the chillier months, our wood burner will keep you nice and toasty.
The hut has lots of rustic charm, with a homely open-plan interior complete with full-sized double bed, kitchenette and wood burner for those colder nights.
Outside there is a shower room, toilet, kitchen area and patio which includes a table, chairs, BBQ firepit and swinging basket chair.
*Please note - we do NOT provide any bath/hand/tea towels, so guests will need to bring their own. We DO provide bed sheets, soap, toilet paper, and pillows.*
Our location is great for guests who want to explore the Herefordshire countryside, with an abundance of walks right from your (stable) door.
Ynys Hut (pronounced en-iss) is situated in a small village called Orcop in Herefordshire, England.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:
Strictly no pets allowed. The double bed in the Shepherd's Hut is accessed by a small ladder, which may be unsuitable for less agile guests. We do provide a step, which you can use as an alternative. Guests have access to a private Secret Garden in which the hut is situated. Please note there are steps up into the hut. Guests will need to bring their own bath/hand/tea towels. A TV is provided but can only be used to watched DVDs. We provide a few movies but guests may want to bring some of their own.
Orcop is a village in the county of Herefordshire, England.
We have a local pub which is just half a mile away from Ynys Hut called The Fountain Inn. Here you can treat yourself to an ice-cold beer and some pub grub after a long day of adventuring. Please check with them directly for current opening times - 01981 540304.
We also have the Garway Moon Inn which is 3.5 miles away - 01600 750270.
Next to The Fountain Inn you will find Orcop's very own library in the form of an old red phone box. It is now full of books for people to share. Here you will also find the local bus stop.
There are lots of people in the village who sell fresh eggs, but our favourite supplier is Burhope Farm, which is 2 miles away. You'll very often get eggs with double yolks, a real treat!
The closest shop to Ynys Hut is the Carrot & Wine Store, which is just over 2 miles away in a neighbouring village called Wormelow.
There is enough room in the Secret Garden for a small tent to be pitched up. This would allow for an extra 2 guests. This must be agreed prior to booking, so please get in touch for details.

This is the perfect place to recharge your batteries! My partner and I loved our time relaxing and cooking over an open wood fire.
Jo has done an amazing job building and maintaining this shepards hut making it a perfect base.
My friend and I had the most incredible weekend at the Ynys hut. The location was beautiful with gorgeous walks and the hut was designed perfectly including everything you need. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful aswell. I wouldn’t hesitate to return at the next opportunity. A real hidden gem!
Nice enough. Could have done with a fold-out table. Access to bed was interesting. Shins not thanking me now.

Hi Leyland, thank you for your feedback. We’ll take your comments on board. We do provide a fold out table inside the hut, apologies you weren’t able to find it. Glamping isn’t for everyone, but we hope you enjoyed your stay all the same.
I booked to stay in the Sheaperds hut with my partner for my birthday weekend. The secret garden and hut are as enchanting as they look in the pictures, great value for money and in a beautiful location.
The booking process was simple, the hosts put attention in to every little detail making for a truly great, relaxing stay.
Thoroughly recommend
Beautiful property with great attention to detail. Couldn't have asked for nicer weather to enjoy time in the secret garden (sun loungers provided) Perfect location for visiting Hereford, Ross-on-wye and so close to Welsh border. Photos do not do it justice.
We have spend very relaxing weekend at Ynys Hut. The place is lovely, and we definitely would recommend it.
We are looking forward to come back to recharge batteries:)
Absolutely loved the shepherd's hut, Beautifully hand made with so much thought into every little detail! The secret garden was perfect to relax beside the fire at night. It had everything you would need and more (books and blankets, pots, cooker ect) the hosts were brilliant! I highly recommend booking this spectacular little hut
Absolutely loved staying at ynys hut. Very private and peaceful. The hut was immaculate and Robin was great at supplying extra wood and some local wisdom. Bed was extremely comfy. Shower room/toilet clean. Loved all the little quirky bits around like the hand drill toilet holder. All utensils supplied. Didn't want for anything. The area is serene, a very short walk to the fountain Inn where locals are friendly. Overall we could jot have asked for a more perfect getaway. Thank you Joe and Co

Life in the big city sometimes us tired. And having an amazing place like this renews our energias. Enchanting moments made our little Holiday unforgettable. Thanks
Amazing, recharged batteries and was relaxing to sit around fire with food cooking. Plenty stuff to do in driving distance . Would highly recommend this place as a couple retreat from reality
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature
Lovely little hut, beautifully made and very cosy.
The firepit was great for bbqs and the garden was perfect for sitting out in the evenings.
Set in a really quiet village, but also a good location for travelling from.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely reccomend it for a quiet relaxing get away
my grandson and his new wife had a lovely time, the hosts were very helpful in arranging afternoon tea for them on their arrival.
they loved the isolation of the hut. all was very clean and tidy. the weather was not so good so they were not able to enjoy the outside facility. they are thinking of a return trip in the future. thank you
Amazing from booking to check out. Everything was easy and exactly as it was shown. Had the best quiet getaway. Eating from the fire and enjoying a break. Perfect in every way. Thank you so much
From the smooth check in to the beautiful surroundings we had the most perfect weekend away!
The shepherds hut is incredibly built and is a credit to the owners, the hosts were very welcoming and so helpful, the gentleman who filled the logs basket for us was so lovely and the lady who let us borrow the sharp knife for dinner too!
The shepherds hut was full of little touches to make it special from the welcome note to the firelighting instructions for the bbq!
We will be returning for sure,

Spent 2 nights in this beautiful hand built shepherds hut! Hut was spacious, clean and comfortable, outside area was super cute and had everything you needed for a late night bbq. In a good location, easy to reach many attractions and beauty spots and came with a helpful guide to help you with the surrounding areas! Joe was lovely and helpful too!
Overall the perfect place for a weekend away
