If you want to explore the city of Funchal and its attractions, choosing this property will be a big step towards your comfort. Very close to the old part of the city, where you can enjoy the art and tradition, you will also be close to many services located in the area.
With a simple and comfortable decoration, you will be able to relax after the days exploring the city and Madeira Island.
Recently renovated, this apartment accommodates up to 4 people, making use of the sofa bed available in the living room.

AREA
If you come to enjoy the good weather and the best that the city of Funchal has to offer, look no further. This is the ideal area!
In spring and summer you can take a swim at the Barreirinha bathing complex or at the small beach located in the old part of the city, both within a five minute walk from the apartment. All year round you can take a stroll through the streets and gardens of the city, or a walk along the seaside promenade that takes you to the Funchal Marina and the CR7 Museum.
Nearby there is a wide variety of restaurants, bars, stores and supermarkets, pharmacies and other commercial surfaces.

HOW TO GET TO
The best option to reach the apartment will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the cabs you find at the airport. If you rent a car, any navigation application will easily find the address.
There is a bus stop 2 minutes walk from the apartment.

OTHER REMARKS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid identification document (e.g. passport, identity card).

- All bed linens and towels are provided. We can also place a crib, high chair, and baby bathtub if needed. There is first aid kit, fire extinguishers and fire blanket in all properties.

Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. Perfect for a long stay

I stayed for almost three weeks (I go to Funchal every winter) and this was perfect for me. Close to everything and easy to reach either by walking or by bus. I've already booked for next year! The management by An Island Apart is excellent as well. Any time I needed them they responded immediately.

Great Apartment

The apartment was just as shown on photographs, spotlessly clean and fresh smelling. It had everything we needed and more for a stress free holiday. Very comfortable (large) bed, adequate crockery and cutlery, superb power shower, even a very decent hairdryer 😊 Perfect location, 5 mins walk into old town and 5 mins in the opposite direction to Funchal main town, couple of roads are steep but not too challenging. Lots of restaurants within easy reach, daily market place and large Pingo Doce supermarket within walking distance. Both balconies have a spectacular view of the ocean and also the mountains, we enjoyed watching a cruise ship come into port and also the cable cars gliding by. The apartment building is secure and communal areas are kept clean. I would absolutely recommend this apartment.

A great stay!

My friend and I had a great experience at Rua Nova da Alegria 32. We found the location very convenient: near to many restaurants, to a Pingo supermarket, and to the Funchal market and that lovely neighborhood. The apartment was very clean. Two balconies with nice views. Plus a cafe/snack bar on the ground floor of the apartment building! So convenient. We rented a car, so having a dedicated parking place was a huge benefit. The washer in the apartment was also great to have. It relieved any pressure about going through my clothes too quickly (I traveled during a baggage-handler strike, so I only had a carry-on-sized suitcase). There were plenty of pots and pans and kitchen implements. There were a few random things that the apartment didn't seem to have (or we just couldn't find), like paper towels and garbage bags, but we just picked them up at Pingo. I'm sure I could have just asked An Island Apart; they were very fast in responding to my messages and probably would have dropped some off. Only other negative was that the shower didn't drain quickly enough, but that was a very minor inconvenience.
