Very enjoyable visit!
We found this house to be very comfortable and charming. It is in a very quiet location and the views are wonderful! Everything in the house was in working order.
I think the house would be even better with wi-fi, and the bathroom with the walk-in shower could use a mirror.
Thanks again for a very nice stay!
A tranquil, comfortable spot among meadows. Song thrushes in the garden. Lots of lovely places to visit. We climbed Ben Bulben, wandered the dunes at Strandhill and more.

Thank you Frankie. Im delighted you enjoyed yourselves.
Cozy cottage in the Irish countryside everything you need. Great walking lanes, birds, sheep and cow's, flowers growing in the hedgerows, kids are free to play in the fields very little traffic just open the door and let them roam free. 15 minutes from the main town of Sligo which has great shopping and grocery stores. We definitely made some great memories here. And Mary the owner is very sweet. We made a mistake on our booking and there was no problem staying an extra night. 5g WiFi so my wife could do some remote work. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking to escape the rat race. Definitely do some shopping before you arrive to get some things to put in the fridge no stores close.

Vielen Dank Mary
Beautiful location great views of mountains, plenty of places to explore,,very spacious house with lovely kitchen very relaxing.

Our countryside stay
The cottage was lovely the best part was Esther and her family making us feel like family and seeing to our every need. We visited all the suggested places and were overwhelmed by the beauty and the history and the culture. Although isolated to a farming countryside it was adventurous getting to locations. The house has everything you would need it was very large and well kept.

Restful Rose Cottage
Had a delightful stay here for over three weeks. It is a well appointed very spacious and comfortable place. Beds, chairs, linen etc all excellent. It is just off a main road which is good and took us in any direction we wanted easily and quickly. It is about 10 minutes away from the beach and from the grocer's. Amazing sunrises over Knoc-na-righ, and ever changing colours on the Ox Mountains. Lots of good walking and very close to the shore at Aughris Head and Easky.
We would certainly want to go back there.

Wonderful holidays!!!
We had ten wonderful days in this lovely cottage. It offers a great view of the Ben Bulben and Knocknarea. Nearby there are so many great lakes, mountains and beaches.
Sligo is a nice city with so lovely people. We and our two kids (8,11) liked it very much. We are sure, we will come again.

Rose Cottage Sligo
Took my family hubby and 3 kids 12,10 and 6 to sligo staying in the gorgeous peaceful and picturesque Rose Cottage . We had one of the best holidays ever. We never had a a minute except when came back to the lovely peace of Rosé cottage lit the fire making beautiful dinner before hitting the bed. One child loved pony camp while the others loved their week of sailing . As a family we had a blast surfing , walking , visiting fairy rings and magical places.
Sligo is a very fun , exciting , spiritual place . Highly recommend a two week break or even 2 days at Rose Cottage well worth it.

About the host
Hosted by mary mckeone
I grew up in the North of Ireland but my parents moved to Sligo over twenty five years ago. I fell in love with this area and we bought our house in 2008. For some of the year we live in Manchester, the rest we spend in Skreen. It is a wonderful area with something for everyone. People are incredibly friendly, helpful all of which contributes to the area's beauty.
Why they chose this property
Rose Cottage is a cosy and comfortable cottage without being ostentatious. It is very roomy inside: big kitchen with mountain views from both sides, a spacious hallway (great for kids to play in) a cosy kitchen and bedrooms which have a peaceful ambiance. Outside there is a big garden with views of the Ox Mountains at the back and Ben Bulben and Knocknarae.
What makes this property unique
This area is incredible. There is Strandhill, a lively seaside place, famous for surfing and seaweed baths,. There is Lisaddell, a place of stunning beauty, where Yeats visited the Gore Booths, there is a Links golf course at Rosses Point and Strandhill, there are endless places to swim, fish, canoe, kayak, surf, waterski. Numerous mountains to climb, if so inclined. Great restaurants in Sligo and Ballina (county Mayo) and a thriving music and cultural scene in Sligo. Sligo was voted the top holiday destination in Ireland in 2014. It is a place worth visiting and Rose Cottage in Skreen, a place worth staying at, for a holiday you will remember.
