Traditional Stone House with the best location in Patmos – The Farm House
Our house in the protected area of Kastelli, gives you the best of everything: central location, large garden, exceptional views, traditional furnishings and modern comfort.
Rebuilt with the best possible materials, using traditional techniques and local craftsmen, this unique stone house offers you the very best of Greek village life.
The house is located at the top of a hill overlooking the port of Skala and offers you majestic views of the ocean, the village and the traditional monastery of St. John.
The house has easy access by car, but we recommend the swift walk through the picturesque streets of the traditional township of Kastelli
The house is only 300 meters from the beach and about 6 minutes from the town Centre, but you are surrounded by 3000 square meters of traditional farmland with 100 year old pines and olive trees, making your stay quiet and rejuvenating.
The house consists of two separate units, which may be rented together or separately.
Both units have fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms, and secluded terraces.
The top unit, The Old House, has a separate living room and two bedrooms sleeping 5 people. The lower unit, The Farm House, has a combined kitchen/living room and a bedroom with two beds.
But since most of your summer living probably will be outdoors, we have made it easy to convert the living rooms to bedrooms so that The Old house may sleep 7 and The Farm House 4+ people.

Everyone involved in the property were excellent, warm and welcoming. Antonia shared great insights for walking and beaches. Arne accommodated my early 2am arrival from Athens. It was a pleasure watch the sunrise and sunset over Patmos, the cave and monastery… beautiful.
Thank you - until the next time!

It was a pleasure having Sarah as a guest. Easy communication and super attitude. I will recommend Sarah for any future hosts and hope that she will want to come back to Patmos.

It has been a pleasure having Philippe and Catherine as our guests in Patmos Hills. They will be very welcome back in the future. The rules for renting of private houses in Greece unfortunately prevents us from providing daily services like cleaning and changing of the beds, so nothing to do about that. Arne
About the host
Hosted by Arne Abrahamsen
We are living in Norway. I am working as a communications adviser. My wife is from California, so we also spend a lot of time in the US. I first visited Patmos in 1972 when I spent a whole year living there. Since then Patmos has been a second home both for the two of us and for our children and grandchildren.
My wife and I ten years ago decided that this is where we want to spend our retirement. We purchased what we think is one of the most spectacular properties on the island and are gradually building and rebuilding houses to use ourselves, for our friends and to rent.
Why they chose this property
Patmos Hills is not built as a rental. It is our own house where we live in the winter months. We are renting it the rest of the year because we wanted others to be able to share the joy we have living in Kastelli and enjoying the serene beauty of the holy island of Patmos.
That also means the property is constantly upgraded, both for ourselves and according to input from our guests. We are now working on planting a new vineyard and a new fruit garden at the lower part of the property.
What makes this property unique
Patmos Hills is located at the top of a hill overlooking the port of Skala and offers you majestic views of the ocean, the village and the traditional monastery of St. John.
The house is only 300 meters from the beach and about 6 minutes from the town Centre, but you are surrounded by 3000 square meters of traditional farmland with 100 year old pines and olive trees, making your stay quiet and rejuvenating.
We bought this property - having looked at about 50 other houses - because it is so central, and yet private. This is nice because you can walk to town to get your fresh bread in the morning and home from the restaurants in the evening.
My dream is to little by little develop Patmos Hills as an integrated part of the village, with more houses, a central square, more trees and flowers.
We are passionate about the island, and want to do our utmost to preserve and develop its traditional values and natural beauty.
