Town: Set at the brink of Loch Shiel, the sleepy little village of Glenfinnan offers a fascinating history and is served by its own railway station, pub and tiny Post Office. Glenfinnan’s station doubles as the Glenfinnan Station Museum, which tells the tale of the West Highland Railway, with steam trains trundling by through the season. Also as this is the West Coast mainline, trains run daily from the village to Glasgow via Fort William and Glencoe and the line has been voted as being one of the most beautiful journeys in the world. Enjoy a scenic walk to the National Trust’s Glenfinnan Monument, where spectacular views across the loch and rising mountains can be enjoyed, followed by afternoon tea in the café, or cruise across the waters of Loch Shiel, with the opportunity to spot golden eagles flitting overhead. The area surrounding the village also offers a myriad of walking trails through vivid Highland scenery, with a variety of levels to suit many abilities. Nearby Fort William lies on the banks of Loch Linnhe, and offers a good selection of shops, and pubs serving a fine selection of meals. Ski enthusiasts will enjoy the Nevis Range, a ski resort with a mountain gondola, along with a World Cup mountain biking course. For a more relaxing break, why not take a tour of the Ben Nevis Whisky Distillery? Glenfinnan offers a peaceful location for exploring the best of the breathtaking West Highlands.

Mullach Ruadh is outstanding. The caretaker/host was fabulous and the location is great for multiple activities from mountains walks to coastal strolls.Be aware that the pin drop navigation on the Sykes website would take you to the wrong cottage(miles away). Also the hotel named in the written directions is wrong and is now called the Stage House B&B.
