We loved our week at Christmas here. The Cottage was clean, comfortable, cosy and warm with great views of tge saltmarshes.
The log burner wasn't used as the heating was very efficient. A wonderful spot for bird watching and walking the NNorfolk coast path.
Salthouse Stores a must.
Complimentary treats on arrival.
Would go back anytime of the year.
Excellent situation with great saltmarsh views. Old cottage with quaint charm. Cosy. Comfortable beds. Deli shop better stocked than we envisaged. We would have liked 3 kitchen tea towels and 2 Jcloths. Kitchen chairs require cushion. Definitely would stay again.

A basis cottage with a grand view
This is the second time here, but over 20 times in North Norfolk, billed as basic. That's ok but dirty windows and spiders webs aren't. Drafty upstairs. Surprised to see it retains a 2nd bedroom as it's marketed as 1 bed, 2 persons accomodation. A lack of an occasional table in the lounge to rest drinks on wasn't ideal. Furthermore, as a December let, festive decorations would have been a nice touch. Finally on a negative, change the dining chairs. Too low and uncomfortable. The great plus is location - awesome, blessed to be amongst such wildlife.

Great Location
Cley Corner Cottage is in a great location, very central to many places of natural beauty. The Dun Cow next door has good food and the village shop is great for coffee, pastries and any food or gift that you may need.

Blissful!
We had a few blissful days in the very cute Cley Corner Cottage! We loved the gorgeous open views from the cottage towards the sea and location. Close to other lovely villages to explore, walking and shopping. There is a good pub, shop and lunch cafe in Salthouse too. Just what we wanted!

Salthouse stay
The customer service and location was fantastic. The cottage is a decent size but was damp downstairs and in need of some tlc. We had a lovely stay but helped by the weather being so good, had we needed to be inside the damp would have been an issue. A little tlc and a good clean and this place would be wonderful.

Enjoyable short stay
The cottage and situation were very good. The cottage was a typical cottage with a good kitchen set in a pretty garden and within a short walk of the sea. The situation between Cromer and Wells was excellent.
A couple of observations: we really missed having a dishwasher and had to wash up some items before use; and we were chilly in the evenings as the radiator in the sitting room didn’t come on.
Overall and enjoyable short break.

Great location - tired cottage
Loved staying here in most respects. Brilliant location with excellent pub and shop next door! Cottage was clean but decor and furnishings only adequate. Kitchen needs updating - oven and fridge in poor condition. Value for money only average - I guess £1k/week is going rate for North Norfolk now (unfortunately). The location trumps most things though and we had a great week.

Perfect location for birdwatching
Great cottage, looking directly out onto the marshes and just round the corner from the pub and village shop; comfortable beds. Could do with some games, some scales; salt and pepper. And something done about the awful smell from the oil fired boiler.
We thorughly enjoyed our stay at Cley Corner Cottage. It's situated on the edge of Salthouse and the views from the sitting room and main bedroom to the sea are wonderful.
As someone who loves the quiet I would recommend it away from peak season as you also overlook the garden of the local pub, The Dun Cow. ( which serves excellent food btw) We enjoyed total peace as we were there in November.
All in all, a great stay and a really cosy and practical cottage for exploring the beautiful North Norfolk coast.

A true gem of a cottage in a quiet stretch of Norfolk coast
Stayed in mid February with very few people in the village and on the beach, heavenly location overlooking beach and marshes on doorstep. Great for long walks with dog on the beach. The lovely gastro pub and artisanal village shop are almost next door. Couldn’t be more convenient. The cottage is comfortable and warm, private and quiet. Well equipped for our stay. Fast internet and TV with AirPlay. Two cosy bedrooms upstairs with views of the marshes. Locally made cookies for us and some treats with a toy for dog greeted us upon our arrival, were really nice touch. Thank you :) We will be coming back.

Very Unsatisfied
Downstairs grotty and unclean; the furniture falling to bits, ancient and looks like it has been placed there from a house clearance. Downstairs is not a nice place to be. Website does not mention the very steep stairs which are bare wood with cracks and very uneven and slippy coming down probably due to the black paint that has been used on them, certainly unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems. A rip off for the price paid. Norfolk Stay have not responded to my emailed complaint along with photographs which doesn’t surprise me with the condition of the property, hence to say I would not book with them again.

We're very sorry to hear that the cottage did not meet your expectations on this occasion. Cley Corner is an older cottage with a rustic charm, that is reflected in the furnishings and this appeals to many guests who have provided much positive feedback over the years. Unfortunately, we did not receive an email from you and so were not able to respond directly, but would have been happy to do so.

The cottage is tired and short on the charm which could so easily be edited in.
This is the second year we have stayed at Cley Corner Cottage. Many aspects of it are ideal, in particular the location, but we were a bit disconcerted to find no updates since last year.
The broken shelf in the fridge door and the shortage of food storage space in the kitchen had an impact because we prefer to eat in rather than out in the evenings. The fridge was packed to capacity and other food supplies were stored on the window sill and in the shopping bags.
Additionally, many of the frying pans do not have flat bottoms which makes their use on the ceramic hob very difficult. Most of them should be replaced.
The welcome supplies were appreciated and it felt as though the property was well prepared before our arrival but we would have liked a strainer for rice, and the cheese grater we eventually found inside a saucepan near the end of our stay. Even four large matching mugs rather than just three would have made a significant difference.
And perhaps some matching wine glasses rather than a collection of assorted styles.
Perhaps there is a reason that the pictures upstairs are still not hung?
The very stained blanket we used on the bed when the nights were cold added to the list of ‘unsatisfactory’.
Our last two days were sunny and we would have liked garden chairs in the back garden rather than carrying through the kitchen chairs to sit in the afternoon sun.
Each of these things listed would have had a very small impact on our holiday but to be honest, cumulatively they did. When renting Cley Corner cottage we felt its intrinsic charm was compromised, even though the location scored high.
It would definitely be worth reviewing the kitchen because this cottage is potentially just perfect.
We had a week of amazing birdwatching and enjoyed discovering several new excursions but perhaps we will find another cottage for 2026.
