our group stayed at the end point of a charity bike ride and were most impressed by the accommodation, experience and the staff members on site. Would recommend highly
We had been looking forward to our weekly stay in Scotland for almost 3 years. Sadly, the villa did not meet our high expectations.
First, the villa was in a nice location in Blairgowrie with a large yard, and a quiet neighborhood. The house has great character but it is old and rustic. There are 10 bedrooms inside the main house and 8 cottages in the courtyard. Ten of them are king bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The rooms are a nice size, but the carpet is old and the floors creak when you walk on them. The hot water in some of the bathrooms did not work properly and the walls were so thin that you could hear people snoring or coughing in the adjoining room. My wife and I stayed in the Master Suite with the turret on the 2nd floor. The room was large but the windows had plexiglass covering them so that they could not be opened. The house has no air conditioning or ceiling fans so the rooms have no air flow and become stale and stuffy. I was forced to move out of my room and into a double room that had a window that opened so that I could get some cool air from outside. Nicholas was very good to work with and met our every request, including electric fans for the rooms. However, out of our group of 18, 10 left the villa after only 4 days. Of the 4 couples who stayed the entire 4 days, 2 of them had to change rooms. For what we paid to rent the villa for 1 week, I expected a lot more comfort. I have stayed in 5 star villas but this was not one of them.
In addition to the base rent, my wife and I also ordered additional services, including a welcome dinner on the first night of our stay with a special anniversary cake, a bagpiper, a band to play ceilidh dance songs, special commemorative gift boxes for each guest, a highland games feature, a whisky/chocolate pairing and a farewell dinner. I highly recommend the bagpiper, the band and ceilidh dancing, the whisky/chocolate pairing and the gift boxes. However, I do not recommend paying extra for the preparation of meals, special dessert, or for the Highland Games. Save your money and use the large kitchen on the ground floor with 2 full size pizza ovens. We made our own pizza one night and spaghetti with salad the other night and we loved it. You can also walk to nearby restaurants.
The house did have some other very nice features as well, but if you are unable to sleep comfortably, nothing else really matters. If you need a place with 18 bedrooms without air conditioning, this might work.
We initially booked Altamount Manor in January 2021 for July 2021 but we couldnt go ahead due to Covid complications. Nick, the owner, transferred our whole booking to October 2021 in the course of 1 phone call. No hassle at all, and very easy to deal with. On arrival at the property Nick and his staff couldnt do enough for us. We had booked a barbeque for the friday night for our whole party of 30 and the food was delicious. We also booked breakfast for the saturday morning which was perfect. An afternoon tea was also arranged for us by Nick which was absolutely delicious.
Saturday nigbt was party night and Nick had arranged for the hall to be decorated with a beautiful balloon arch and decorations. The hall provided the perfect space for dancing and the PA system worked perfectly. The whole manor is spotlessly clean and very homely. All in all we woukd totally recommend Altamount Manor for any occasion!

Great for a family get together
A great venue for a family get together. The function room set up for games, including a bouncy castle, proved a wonderful part of the weekend for the kids (thanks Nicholas for suggesting it) and the sitting room and separate bar area proved a lovely combination for the adults to socialise and move between groups.
The commercial kitchen was much more user friendly than it looked and self-catering for 27 proved it!
Negatives? despite Andrew’s ingenuity the house really isn’t set up for disabled or partially disabled guests at this time. The location is great for access to town and some lovely walks, but it is far from being secluded and the houses overlooking the front lawns were a bit of a surprise to be honest, as was seeing people walking past the dining room windows on a regular basis.
The positives far outweighs these though, and Altamount proved a wonderful venue for a memorable long weekend with family ranging from 16mths to 96yrs. Also great to have Andrew on call, who was ever willing and most helpful at all times.

We stayed this property in seven days. No towel change or cleaning team visit in property . Water pressure was very low.

The manor house was rented as a self-catering use property. The guests brought thier own chef and broke a lot of kitchen items and then expected us to change towels and clean bedrooms during the stay when no housekeeping services were paid for. This is not a hotel.
The property decor and facilities are of a very high standard after the recent renovations. I apologise that you felt the water pressure was not good enough, but this is a 230 year old building.
The manor was the perfect venue for the weekend, we hosted a party with a few friends. The rooms were all a good size and the hosts were very accommodating to our needs.
The industrial kitchen was perfect for cooking for a large amount of people and all the communal areas were a brilliant size for hosting.
The house was spotless on arrival, couldn’t fault it. Lovely location would recommend.
We had a group of 36 staying in the manor celebrating three 30th birthdays and New Years Eve. It was perfect for us, everyone had their own beds and en-suites, the commercial grade kitchen meant we were able to self cater with ease and, with the permission of Nick (the owner), we were able to stock up the fully functional bar and have our own pub in the house (perfect for our own Hogmanay celebrations).
There were a few minor niggles during our stay but that is to be expected given the age of the property and Nick could not have been more helpful in rectifying any issues we had.
Overall can’t recommend the place enough if you have a large easy going group looking for an escape to the Scottish countryside.
We hired Altamount manor for my 40th birthday celebration. We had a 1920’s Gatsby theme & Nick & the team got right on board. From suggestions to implementation everything was 5 star. The team went above and beyond and demonstrated a sheer commitment to ensure the weekend was exactly what we wanted. All the guests were blown away with all the attention to detail.
I couldn’t recommend Nick & the team enough - the quality of the food, personalised service and facilities were just fantastic.
Thank you so much

Great venue, welcoming and helpful hosts.
Perfect venue for my husband’s 40th birthday. Plenty of space indoors and outdoors and well equipped. Flexibility on the make up of the bedrooms was ideal.
Nick was a great host and very helpful.
Would highly recommend.

Great property for a party
Nick and Cynthia were nice hosts. Cracking big old house which was perfect for a 40th birthday party. Catering was good. Only negative was we were told the PA sound system had to be turned off at midnight which i wasn't aware of until about 20 minutes before. The alternative sound system in the other areas of the house was unfortunately broken. Nick had told us about that before we arrived but it then left us with no music at the party apart from the little speakers we had brought along. We still had fun though!

Fabulouse house and hosts
Recently stayed at the Manor House for a business team retreat. Plenty of room for 15 people to have their own rooms although if going with friends then can accommodate lots more. There was also plenty of main reception/dining rooms to allow for breakout sessions. The hosts Nick and Cynthia were very welcoming and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly consider booking again for a business or leisure break.

The retail centre is a 5 mn drive.
Local activities:
The countryside surrounding the Manor and Blairgowrie has some of the most famous Golf courses in the world close at hand.
You will also be able to take part in a whole range of activities all year round: Skiing, fishing, shooting, mountain biking, hiking (Blairgowrie being the main start point for the 60-mile circular Cateran Trail that walkers can follow around the historic drove roads used by cattle rustlers). Or you can always try 4x4 off-road driving, quad bikes and even tank driving!
Attractions:
Blairgowrie is a charming little town with lots of character right in the heart of Scotland. If you are coming from abroad, you will enjoy discovering the fascinating country that is Scotland with its rich history and its authentic culture.
There are plenty of local attractions drawing visitors from all over the world, such as Whisky Distilleries, numerous Castles, Lochs, wildlife and a beautiful rural landscape.
