Really lovely cottage with good parking and a perfect enclosed garden for the dog. Cottage was warm and beds were comfortable. We had an issue with our hot water but this was sorted out very quickly. The hot tub was great too. The host left really useful (and easy to follow) information on walks around the local area which we, and our dog, really enjoyed. The village has a lovely pub and a little shop which had everything we needed. We would definately stay there again.
Very clean and comfortable cottage. Owners very friendly. Great to find somewhere that really welcomes dogs, with added touches of dog toys, towels, throws. Gardens very safe. Great central location for visiting the whole of Dorset and local amenities close by. Certainly hope to return in the future.

Thank you for your kind comments. We're glad you found the cottage clean, comfortable and dog friendly. We look forward to seeing you again.
This property met all of our needs. It was the perfect size for us and very convenient to the train station and some hiking trails. Mark and Karen were great with recommendations and answering questions. The check-in process was very easy and we were greeted with milk and cookies. Grocery shops were very convenient. All appliances had detailed written directions on how to use. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice place and have been twice now but I have to be honest that I was shocked at damp and mould on walls/ceiling and around patio doors in back bedroom. No problems anywhere else in property with damp. If this property has a cleaner coming in to turn it around then I think they need to be spoken too, as when you look close it’s not great. I would return if things improved as it a lovely setting and location

Apologies for the central heating issue but hope you managed okay with the plugin radiators. The shelf is part of the bathroom cabinet but we will see if this can be removed as it has been mentioned before. There is a clothes dryer in the cottage and it's location is detailed in the guest guide, sorry you didn't find it.
Lovely cottage in a peaceful setting.
Mark and Karen are great hosts and provide lot of information regarding the cottage and local walks and days out.
Very dog safe garden with an enclosed hot tub.
Would recommend to others.
Lovely little cottage, peaceful location with lovely walks for the dog. We all really enjoyed our holiday. Shame only one pub within walking distance but we travelled a bit further afield and found some very nice ones! Hot tub much appreciated 🙂

Excellent booking process overall stay very good. The 2 issues we had please bare in mind my mother is 83 and both blind and hard of hearing. It would have been useful to know about the steep pathway to the property and also the very steep steps in the back yard. But the hot tub was excellent we would come back just for that.

Thank you for your comments, we're glad you enjoyed your stay and the hot tub. Sorry if your mother had any difficulty with the slope up to the property, we will add some access information to the listing. Hope to see you again soon.
This cottage has everything you need for a relaxing stay (for you and your dog!). We enjoyed it very much. The hot tub was a bonus. Everything was in order when we vacated the cottage so we were surprised to get a message from the owners asking us about a wet patch on the carpet. This was not of our doing and was soon resolved - a consequence of the cleaner’s COVID sprayer!

Great property, well equipped, I came armed with essentials like tea, washing up stuff etc as I normally do for self catering but all that was there. Even pg tips and a pint of milk in the fridge. Super king size bed was a luxury - we normally look forward to heading home to our own bed but not this time! Lovely private setting, hot tub brilliant. Would definitely return 👍

About the host
Hosted by Mark Butcher
My wife and I moved to Dorset in 2004 to escape the rat race. Karen who came from a busy secretarial background in London, now works part time for the NHS and I continue to run a small architectural practice. We both love running our two holiday lets and welcoming guests to this lovely area.
Why they chose this property
West Dorset is fantastic area with beautiful countryside and a fantastic coast line. There is so much to do and see, after 20 years we are still finding new places to visit.
What makes this property unique
Both of our cottages are decorated and furnished to a high standard with very comfortable beds. Each have their own private hot tub and despite being very dog friendly the highest standards of cleaning are maintained.
