The view from the balcony is gorgeous, especially at sunrise! The apartment is spacious and comfortable. The location is great, easy access by car and on foot. Detailed instructions and timely responses from the owner made check-in and check-out straightforward.
Stunning View and Good Family Budget Option in Lake Como
The view from the balcony is absolutely incredible and was the highlight of our entire trip. We spent as much time out there as possible. If gets afternoon sun which is nice!!
We fell in love with the little village of Argegno recommend getting coffee & croissants at Il Porto!
The location is nice and close to the small town center. It's a very steep walk down a path and with stairs which was fine for our 5 year and 7 year olds but wouldn't work for anyone with mobility issues.
For kids: a small park right next door!
The communication with the host/owner was good. He has videos and a PDF explaining the arrival process. I recommend looking at and watching this info before you arrive.
The pool is shared (the listing did make me think it was private at first) & there was always one other family there but it was big enough that it didn't feel crowded. The water was very cold and my kids didn't want to swim for too long anyway. The area is a bit run down and there are quite a few bees (my daughter was stung).
A few things I wish I knew:
There is no hand soap or dish soap. If you're driving bring your own or get it at a grocery store along the way. The one market in town is very small with limited hours.
There are 4 bath towels, no pool towels. Would recommend bringing your own if you want a dry towel to shower with after the pool.
Despite all this, for the low price, this place is a gem! We fell in love with lake como here!

Table minuscule. Manque de prises dans l'appartement. En revanche la personne qui gère l'appartement et celle qui fait le ménage sont disponibles pour répondre aux questions.
We arrived in start of evening. it's really easy to found and to receive keys. Everything is clear with owner. We can park in the underground easily.
Apartment is not enormous but it's enough. We were 2 adults and 3 children (16, 12 and 7).
View on the lake is clearly the big advantage of this situation. it's a pleasure to wake up every morning and take breakfast with this panorama.
Furniture and dishes is a little bit just for 5 person but and it can be managed without problem. Dishwasher is there!
Apartment have also a large swimming pool well maintaned , shared with neigbour.
Bed are new and we sleeped well. Very hot this summer but fan are available.
We can suggest evreyone to go there without any hesitation.

Wasn't happy
Not good - the humidity was beyond uncomfortable - could not sleep most of the nights I was there. NEED AIR CONDITIONING - EVEN A WALL UNIT BADLY. The check in process was overly complicated with the garage, two lock boxes, etc.
L appartement est comme présenté dans l'annonce, très propre avec un emplacement idéal pour se balader et découvrir le lac. La vue sur le lac est magnifique.

Lovely Christmas break..
The apartment is amazing, with a fantastic location in the middle of the village. We were there for a Christmas celebration, so it was the winter season. Wonderfully equipped and nice and snug. Delighted with it and will definitely be back.

Overall a very nice stay!
We recently returned from a lovely week in apartment #7 (August 2017). I recommend the apartment and town to anyone considering a laid back summer week in Lake Como!
The photos, descriptions and reviews are all very accurate. Communication with John was great - he very quick to reply to any questions. The views are stunning! The apartment is a great value!
A few extra comments:
There were six of us (three adults, three children). The electric air mattress fits in the room with the two twin beds. The air mattress worked fine for our two children (4 and 8), but probably not ideal for adults.
We earned a dip in the pool after the steep stairs and hill from the village to the apartment! The hill was not a problem for our 4 year old, but as noted in another review, it could be a challenge to others less able.
The pool was a big hit with the kids. It was a bit chilly when I first got in, but then I got used to it. You share it with the other apartments, which works just fine.
Argegno is a small town, which suited us well. The tiny market is tiny; we went to Lenno for more substantial grocery shopping. The gelato is excellent! The restaurants were all enjoyable (for dining in and take-away). We did not have a car. It is connected with the bus, ferry and high speed boat ferry. Boats and buses are not that frequent, but if you plan ahead it works just fine (although one day we had to hitch a ride back from Lenno as no buses came by). The only drawback to the town is that the main road runs right through it. We visited the mid-lake towns (Bellaggio, Verrana, Menaggio), Como and even went to Milan for the day.
Overall a very nice stay!

Lovely apartment with wonderful lake views
The apartment is easy to find and well situated as a base for touring Lake Como. Argegno is beautiful and feels away from the hustle and bustle of some of the busier towns, with a selection of good restaurants. The apartment is up approx 100 steps from the piazza so better for the fit and able bodied. Pool was very clean and most days we had it to ourselves. We would highly recommend the apartment and Argegno although the €30 internet hire charge isn't worthwhile- the connection is very poor.

Awesome views
This villa is in a gated complex with 4 units. We had unit 7 which is upstairs with unbelievable views and 2 balconies. You always had a spot to enjoy the view, get out of the sun and enjoy the breeze. The villa is tired and is in need of a good scrubbing. This includes all of the outside furniture. All the blankets and pillows need to be replaced as they are horribly stained and dirty. We appreciated having a washing machine so we could do laundry. The water heater is in need of adjustment as it kept turning off and the shower went cold after a couple of minutes. We never were able to get the TV to operate but who really wants to watch TV when you can overlook the lake and mountains. It is a challenge to read at night with only one light in the entire living area. Make sure you read the notebook as we found many extraordinary out of the way restaurants if you are willing to go uphill. We were instructed to connect with a woman 30 minutes before arrival and she no longer works there. We called and left messages 5 times and couldn't figure out why she never returned our calls. We found out 3 days later when Jessica was mowing the lawn downstairs. Overall for our first experience in the Como area we were very pleased and had a great time. Next time we would opt for something a bit more quiet and not located on a switchback with so much traffic noise. The last few days of our stay a group of 5 people moved into the unit next door. They were all very rude and loud! Even the locals were coming out of their homes to find out where the ruckus was coming from! I reminded them that we are guests here and they needed to find their manners NOW! That helped somewhat but who wants to put up with that foolishness!

Perfect base for exploring lake como
Argegno is one of the nicest villages along the lake. Not too crowded and touristy but with a good choice of restaurants and a really nice atmosphere and very pretty. The apartment was perfect. We had two decent bedrooms, a large sitting room with well supplied kitchen and bathroom. We had our own garden and the pool pretty much to ourselves. Would definitely recommend and would go back ourselves.

Lovely apartment with stunning views
A lovely village with everything you need close to hand, the pictures don't do the apartment views justice, they are breathtaking. The pool is small but plenty big enough to keep our 3 children entertained after days out exploring the local area. We had a great holiday and would definitely recommend it.

About the host
Hosted by John Roberts
I worked in Lugano and live in Argegno from 2003-2009. My daughter Keelin was born in Como in 2005. This place is special to our hearts
Why they chose this property
Because Argegno is a buzzy town - which is very much local in character (not touristy). The connectivity and the Val D'Intelvi offers the best of all worlds. In my opinion, the best town on the lake
What makes this property unique
Fantastic views, centrality to Piazza and a lovely private pool (June -September)
