This Down-front getaway has all the advantages to make your vacation the most relaxing it can be. Anyone looking for a peaceful and quiet retreat while still wanting access to urban amenities will love this place. This home is appealing during Maine’s lovely and relaxing carefree days of summer on an Island.
The house is only a block away from the crashing surf and the ocean breezes tickling your nostrils. The house is a five minute walk from the Casco Bay Ferry, Peaks Island Post Office, the Island’s general store and of course fabulous restaurants on and off the Island in Old Port
The Be Chill Cottage is only a block from the crashing surf. It offers leisurley strolls by the seashore, the salt air and sea roses. This lovely house has a master bedroom with a queen-size bed, a second bedroom with a double-bed and a fold out couch in the main living area. The kitchen has granite counter tops, new appliances and is updated with all the essential kitchen equipment for that perfect meal. Best of all it has the essential lobster pot! The living area is quite spacious and open throughout. It offers internet and cable TV. The front deck perfect to sit out and watch the sunsets. The back deck walks out into the grassy yard that has a gas barbecue, picnic table and Adirondack chairs for those unforgettable evenings on Peaks Island.
There is a warning however! We visited the Island and fell in love with it and the Portland area in general. We ended up moving to Peaks Island. Maybe this will happen to you!

We stayed at Joanie and Gary’s cottage during June and most of July-it was such a fantastic time! We just loved everything-the cottage, the location and the proximity to be close to Portland to go for dinner but far enough away to feel out of town!

A Magical Place for Kids and Adults Alike!

This is a perfect spot to stay on Peaks with access to all the beaches and adventures it holds. The house was clean, well appointed with everything we needed, and felt like a home away from home. We enjoyed everyday there and look forward to being back again next year!

I love this peaks island cottage where me and my daughter stayed! The hosts are wonderful through and through. We love staying here for two years in a row. Easy to walk to beach and town.

Perfect Island Getaway – Peaceful, Convenient, and Cozy!

We had such a lovely stay at this charming cottage on Peak's Island! It's perfectly located, just a 7-minute walk from the ferry and downtown area, and another quick walk to the beach. The peaceful, quiet atmosphere was exactly what we needed, especially with the beautiful fall foliage. The cottage had everything we needed, including a full washer and dryer and a well-equipped kitchen. Highly recommend this cozy retreat!

Great summer getaway

My family and I had a great time on Peaks at this cottage. It was a perfect week for my older parents and me (three people). Peaks is wonderful--delicious ice cream, beaches, walks, and time just to relax. The cottage had everything we needed--was very comfortable and an ideal location (short walk from the ferry and a great beach). Gary and Joanie were wonderful hosts--very helpful and responsive. Can't recommend it enough--I hope we're back next summer!

A weekend getaway!

We had a really nice family weekend away! It was just what we all needed. The cottage was in the perfect location if you want to be able to walk everywhere at the front of the island. Gary was very accommodating and responsive. The only issue was that we didn’t book it for longer! Next time we will be sure to stay longer!

Another Amazing Stay at the BeChill Cottage

This was my families second time staying at the BeChill cottage and we were so happy to be back! The cottage is so clean and has everything you need in the kitchen, spacious bedrooms, and comfortable living room. We love the location! You can easily walk to the ferry, all the stores and restaurants and to the beautiful sandy beach! The whole island is beautiful and on a rainy day you can hop on the ferry to Portland and go to a great restaurant or do some shopping. Plus the owners are so kind and super responsive. Thank you for letting us stay at BeChill again - we would love to come back!

Lovely cottage on lovely Peaks

We had a great stay at the BeChill cottage on Peaks Island. Hosts made check-in super easy and sent activities for our family to do on island (like the Community Center BBQ which was in a beautiful spot with a live band - so fun for kids). The cottage was super cute, clean, plenty of space for our small family, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Plus it's in a great location. We rented a golf cart to get around (because it's just fun to do:) but you could really walk to everything from the cottage, including the beautiful Sandy Beach! Awesome place to stay, we miss it already and can't wait to come back!!! Thank you Gary and Joanie!

Peaks Island Getaway

We had a fantastic week on Peaks Island. Gary and Joanie were outstanding host. The cottage had everything that you needed for a wonderful stay on the island. It even had some really nice artwork throughout the cottage. The location "downfront" was ideal. We were a very short walk to go out to one of the restaurants or head over to Hannigans Market to stock up on groceries. It was also a short walk or golf cart ride to the seaward side of the island to take in breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Yet it was also in a very quiet location to enjoy a night sitting on a porch or out in the backyard. We highly recommend the "Be Chill" cottage for your next family vacation on Peaks Island.

Great get away spot

Everything worked great. Really nice property close to the restaurant and store on the island but still felt away from everything. Only thing... Please raise the showerhead, not made for average height people.

Peaks Island is wonderful!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the house on Peaks Island. The hosts were great and it was a close walk for those riding the ferry. If you have elderly people in your group you might catch the taxi by the ferry landing as it’s kind of an uphill walk, but it’s definitely doable as we hauled our luggage up the hill.

Owners were super responsive and there for us when we needed an extra hand. The house is lovely and spacious for a family of 3! Having the open kitchen and washer/dryer was An added bonus! Hope to go back next year.

We are from Salt Lak City, Utah. Three years ago,we visited Peaks Island for a week and six months later bought a house on the back-shore of the Island. We now live here full time and love every moment of the Island magic. The Wasatch mountains served us well - skiing, hiking, camping, snow-shoeing, fishing. However - the ocean was calling us . So here we are and excited to explore what the Island offers - sailing, swimming, paddle-boarding, kayacking, surfing,, fishing. And just across Casco Bay - the best food on the east coast. We love it here.

Why they chose this property

We bought this as second property, less that a month ago, becuase it was such a wonderful, well-made house and we wanted to invest in Island real estate. Since it is five minutes away from our house on the back-shore - it is a perfect place to have family stay during the summer season because of allergies to our cats. And when family isn't staying there - we will let other people stay theit. We have winter tennants that will rent it nine months of the year. It's a perfect little house for us, our family, our winter tennats and anyone who wants to rent it .

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the property because it had been fully updated inside - wood floors redone, granite counter tops, new appliances and fully furnished with the cutest furniture. And it came with the most gorgeous master bedroom set. We are tempted to take it to our house - but it looks so perfect in the master bedroom with the vaulted ceilings. It also has a sweet back-yard that you can fully relax in with a cup of coffee and enjoy the birds and the ocean.
