About this property
Villa Medici Oria
Enchanting eighteenth-century villa with independent swimming pool, located at the sanctuary of San Cosimo a few kilometers from Oria. The property has 4 bedrooms, kitchen, 5 bathrooms, each room equipped with bathroom and air conditioners for hot and cold air. Outside we find the depandance including a bathroom and a kitchen. Large swimming pool with barbecue, deck chairs and relaxation area. Everything is immersed in the green of the lawn and olive trees, parking and free wi-fi.
An enchanting and fairytale eighteenth-century Villa near Oria. You will have all the space you need to spend unforgettable moments with friends or family under the Apulian sun. Privacy and tranquility are first for us, you can enjoy the beautiful swimming pool and the relaxation corners between deckchairs and armchairs. Green lawns and olive trees surround the house. Furthermore, the whole property is fenced, with the pool area invisible from the street. Just outside the main gate is the bike path, a distinctive feature of our property, perfect for long walks to the sanctuary located just a few minutes away.
The house is equipped with everything necessary to ensure that your stay can be perfect. Each room is equipped with television and private bathroom. The whole is completed by large lounges and dining rooms overlooking the olive trees and swimming pool.
The house has a large garden where cars can be parked. All this is accessible via an automatic gate operated by a remote control that will be given to you at check-in.
The villa is located a couple of kilometers from the historic Oria. A cycle path connects the villa to the city of Oria (about 3 km) and to the nearby Sanctuary of San Cosimo. The location is strategic and optimal for quickly reaching the most beautiful places in Salento and Murge: less than an hour from Lecce, half an hour from Brindisi, 40 minutes from Taranto. And then Ostuni, Cisternino, Martina Franca, Ceglie Messapica, all reachable with journeys between 20 and 40 minutes. You can naturally enjoy the splendid sea that bathes Puglia, choosing along the coastlines that will take you to Santa Maria di Leuca, the extreme tip of the boot, between the wide and sandy beaches, predominant in the Taranto area, and the suggestive rocky coasts of Lecce. You can also choose between the Ionian Sea, where the north wind makes the sea a perfect table and the sirocco makes them sparkling and rippled, and the Adriatic, where everything is reversed.
An event not to be missed is the TOURNAMENT OF THE FOUR RIONI di Oria, which is repeated every year - since 1967, on the second weekend of August - to relive one of the most fascinating and mysterious pages in Apulian history.
The celebrations begin on Saturday with the historical procession of nobles, ladies, knights, jesters and flag-wavers with more than 1,000 costumed figures accompanying Emperor Frederick II along the festively decorated streets of the town.
At the end of the parade, the announcement of the Tournament is read and the presentation ceremony of the Palio takes place.
On Sunday, the Tournament of the Districts takes place which originates from the medieval tournament organized in 1225 by Frederick II in honor of Giovanni di Brienne, father of his future wife Jolanda and guest of the Emperor's court.
In memory of this historical fact, the four districts of Oria (Castello, Lama, Judea and Santo Basilio) challenge each other by engaging in hard medieval trials to win the coveted Palio.
