Beautiful historic home
The Dutch House is a beautiful historic home in the center of York, close to the Minster, but far enough to be quiet. It's a lovingly restored property on three stories, and very comfortable. Great kitchen for cooking with everything you'd need. The double bath in the second floor bedroom was a wonderful bonus! As an historic property, it's the focus of tour groups which show up 4-5 times a day. It was amusing at first, but after a few days it was tiresome, especially when people would peer in the window. There are a few drawbacks: the beds are not particularly comfortable. For the price point, I would expect a better mattress. Being a very old building it has some condition issues in the plaster work, uneven floors, stair pitch, etc. Finally, there is a smart heating system which was set to 11° celsius (52° fahrenheit). I could set the thermostat to a comfortable temp, but after 2 hours it would reset to 11°. Being eco-friendly is one thing, but this struck me as downright parsimonious.
