About this property

A House 15-20 Min From Reykjavik Center

There can be bed places for up to 12 but it has to be requeasted

I recommend watch the video I uploaded, it is since 2017 but it gives a good idea on how the enviroment is here.

The house is by the lake Elliðarvatn, It is in Kopavogur which is like a suburbs of Reykjavik. There is a lot of nature here and one gets the feel of being out in the country, while only a 15-20 minutes to the center and just 8-10 min to the nearest mall (Smáralindin).

The house is not rented with the the most of the garage. There is a bedroom that has been split from the garage and is accessable from the living area but the garage is used as storage.

The house is pretty good for a a big family.

There are 5 bedrooms, the main bedroom with a 180*200 bed, and in three childrens room there is a bedplace for 2 people 120-140cm and 1 of the childrens room has a 90cm quality high quality bed.
There is also a large couch that can sleep on in the living room and a travelling bed as well, should that be needed.

There are 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bathtub.

There are a lot of people with horses around here and one of the Icelandic horse communities is very close, so there are quite often some horses passing by.

The nature here is vast and there are many hiking trails here if one enjoys doing that. The lake (Elliðarvatn, is about 8 km circumference) which is about a good hour and 30min walk in a very beautiful scenario. A lot of the nature here is a conservation area called Heiðmörk and Rauðhólar (red hills) is an hour walk from the house.

In summer 2022 the garden will somewhat diffenent from the pictures, a wall has been built around the garden, and a wooden porch is being build in the garden as well as a jaquzzi being installed.

Great location

This house easily accommodated our group of 10 (4 adults and 6 teens) with easy access to a beautiful lake for walks and bike rides and quick access by car to Reykjavik which was about 15-20 minutes to the downtown area.

Great Place

We had a really nice week long stay at this property. With 4 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children over 10, we had more than enough room for all us. House is located within 3 minutes of a grocery store, which was extremely convenient. Neighborhood felt safe. Kids were venturing out to the nearby park and even found some friends to play soccer with in the evening. House was clean and the owners were awesome to deal with, accommodating and responsive.

Fantastic location about 20 min out of Reykavik

Hrannar and Dora´s house is at a beautiful location in the suburbs. I would always recommend having a car to get to the malls etc. There is a grocery store in a 5 min walking distance but as for other kinds of stores you have to drive or take bus to town or the kopavogur mall Smaralind. At the house you feel as if you are not in a town, it is by a beautiful lake and with view over the lake and some mountains. Horses are riding along the road by the house, which is kind of nice to see, there are horse stable houses. very close by so people on horses are a frequent sight, as there are a lot of paths for horses and hikers here. As for the house it self, it is not something fancy, kitchen needs a upgrade, but it is pretty big and has everything one needs, bit dining table, could have some more chairs though. The biggest pro is the location, you feel as if you are one with nature. recommended for hikers

What makes this property unique

You are in the suburbs and pretty much in the nature as this is very close to Heiðmörk national park. In the winter the northern lights can often be seen from the house as there are no streetlights to the east and north east of the house.
